In this case, the store price and the sale price for the Criterions are going to be exactly the same.
Awesome. Thanks for your quick response! Very helpful.

I stopped by a brick-and-mortar Barnes & Noble today during lunch break, and bought...

Roberto Rossellini's War Trilogy
Blue is the Warmest Color

I was not intending to buy the War Trilogy during this sale, because I've already got so many still-unwatched Criterion box sets, but this one was in perfect condition, and, since I was in-store, I was able to use my 10% member discount in conjunction with the sale to grab this for $44.99

I loved Blue is the Warmest Color at the theater, but I've been holding out for the promised special edition of this movie that was hinted at for the future.
Now that I've succumbed and purchased this existing Blu-ray of the theatrical edition, Criterion will probably announce a new Special Edition that features over eight hours of additional nude scenes. If this happens, then all of you are welcome.

In addition to the ones that I ordered online from Barnes & Noble yesterday (L'Argent, Stalker, The Exterminating Angel, Ugetsu), this is a nice haul.

Code Unknown maliciously continues to elude me. I'm planning to stop by another Barnes & Noble across town tomorrow when I'm on my way to the Paul McCartney concert, and I'm hoping that it will be there waiting for me.

I gave The River another try a few nights ago. Once before I had watched about 40 minutes or so and felt like I wasn't connecting with it. It felt slow and uninteresting to me. I know about all of the Hindu festivals and about Indian culture, so I thought that was maybe why it didn't feel like anything special to me.

So, I got about 45, maybe 50 minutes in this time and felt pretty much the same way. Perfect film to put on if you're suffering from insomnia.

The following night, I finished the film - putting it on because I had nothing much else to do and because I didn't think I could handle a full length film at that time of night.

Interestingly, the magic hit me during the second half of the film. The
[Show spoiler]story that the young girl narrates to Captain John and Valerie, the dance sequence, the line about the first kiss, the shot from the cobra's POV
. Wow, all pretty special! Now I can't wait to see the film again.

It seems like there are some great supplements on the disc, too. I'll hold off on those until I see it again, but definitely recommended for those with patience.

For the most part it's just getting in the way of discussions about films that aren't in the collection in the first place.

Well Kafka is more intriguing because Soderbergh's been tinkering with it for over a decade, but of course I'd love to see those released as well (The Limey especially).

The BN posts get in the way of my favorite discussion topic: encoding. One day all films will look pristine when zoomed in at 800%.

Picked up Rumble Fish and Punch Drunk Love in visit #1 lol. Rewatched Punch Drunk for the first time in a long time last night, so good. I hope more Paul Thomas Anderson films make their way into the collection soon.

Yeah, but this is a Criterion Collection thread, so it makes sense that everyone is going to be posting about the Criterion Collection sale at B&N.

I was just looking at the listing for the upcoming Rebecca release on the Criterion site and saw that there are two discs for the Blu-ray. Has this always been the case and I just never noticed, or is this new?

It's still priced as a single-disc release, too.

It's been two disc and priced at one since the announcement.

You forgot "Was anybody successful conning a cashier into scanning a coupon?" and the " I hate Barnes & Nobel because giving us only a 50% discount isn't enough."

I asked for feedback on this a couple of days ago and all I got was "it's a bore". Good luck though.

I wasn't disagreeing with you as I haven't seen it, I was just paraphrasing as nobody seemed to go to bat for it.

No problem. Just my honest opinion of when I saw I Am Curious, Yellow when I was very young and revisited it when I was much older.

Kinda wanna try my hand at a trilogy or box set...any suggestions? Before Trilogy, Lone Wolf and Cub, War Trilogy, Three Colors & Del Toro set have peaked my interest (love pan's labyrinth, haven't seen the others). Thoughts?
