Ironic user posts ^.

Anyone watch L'Argent? Bresson's films often ruminate in the mind upon a viewing, taking a few days or even a subsequent viewing for me to formulate my thoughts. This one is no different. There's a lot to unpack, notably its conclusion, but the initial impact it has left me cannot be shaken, in ways that surprisingly aren't mirrored by his other films. The subject matter doesn't lend itself to a lasting impression the way something like Diary of a Country Priest does, but this one managed to do so. I suspect it's the sharper use in editing, and it being the first color films of his I've seen, employing the deteriorating environment of his characters as a near singular piece. Typically I've found the contrast of look in his black and white pictures - nature and the harsh confines of the interior. But it feels like every setting is worn out here, as if to say that the characters that move on a moral spectrum remain on the same playing field. The prison doors open just as the apartment's, people weave in and out of their space, only to be faced with inevitable consequences of action, even when this action isn't of their own doing.

It's the scanova case at fault, not CC. So 1 company has a different way of protcting them? Whoop! And hardly any games come with manuels anymore. They are all online

IIRC This is a 4K restoration that replicates the Japanese Blu yes ?

Code Unknown is finally mine.

Barnes & Noble was out of stock online and the physical B&N down the street from me didn't have it, but I found it today at a location on the other side of metro Atlanta, since I'm here for a Paul McCartney concert tonight. "With a little luck", indeed.

Of all of my catches during this July sale fishing trip, Code Unknown was the one that put up the biggest fight, but I reeled it in.

I'm done now.

They supply Criterion. Criterion can suggest adjustments. Again, Thief has shelving where the booklet sits. They should change all future releases to use that particular design.

Don't be dense. Arrow is just 1 studio. Plenty others do it too. Twilight Time does.

PS4 games not using manuals (some do) is besides the point.

Thanks for the box set recommendations. Looking to add more single releases from this sale as well.

Own:

Paths of glory
Seventh seal
M
12 angry men
Seven samurai
Dr strangelove
Harakiri
Mulholland drive
8 1/2
Yojimbo/Sanjuro
Bicycle thieves

Debating on 400 blows, the lodger, throne of blood, and wild strawberries, all movies I loved. What are some recommendations on must watch movies or must own criterion releases?

You're the one who brought up Ps4

You honestly think that out of all the copies of X titles produced, there will never be a few with defects? It happens in everything, be it CDs, vinyl, books, discs, collectables, you name it

As an example of its case design.

It's not just a couple. The way the way the plastic and booklet sits in the case its possible for the booklet to damaged every time. ALL my Criterion blurays are dinged at the top and bottom exactly where the plastic are.

And now Ghost world has this issue and i didn't even open it yet.

Picked up a few blu upgrades in the store on Tuesday and just ordered WCP II, Stalker and Lost in America from online. I'm now good thru September straight from Criterion.com.
My wishlist is officially cleared.

Bring on the October titles!

God dammit. My copy of Fantastic Mr. Fox is a repackaged one. There's no stickers, the top and bottom are dented, and the bottom left corner is torn Eraserhead is in good condition at least.

B&N repackages a ton of older BDs that are jacked up. I would acquire older Criterions from their flash sale. Use the B&N sale to get the newer stuff, from my experience.

I've been noticing a slight come back in booklets this year. Straw Dogs, Ugestu, Blow Up...though I may just be losing my mind with all the titles I still need to watch. Hope this trend continues.

I think it's February/October. Sign up to Criterion's website and they'll e-mail you when it occurs and follow this thread.

It looks like you are a huge fan of Kurosawa, I would suggest The Hidden Fortress.

Idk if I will be buying many or any Criterion's during the flash sale. I really want to, but there's so many movies from other labels that I need to get caught up on. I'll try to hit the B&N sale in November?

Straw Dogs & Ugetsu are upgrades, and they came with the booklets when released on DVD. Still, I hope many of the new releases (non upgrades) carry the booklets, too.
