Default Charada BD quality!

Sorrt if this has been asked before, but I am wondering about the BD quality of Charade.

The review on this site is really good, but HighDefDigest says it's lacking, and quite a disappointment.

Has anyone seen it yet?

Is it really that good/bad?

What are the problems?

I'd like to get this title, but not if there are serious "issues" with the PQ.

Thanks in advance.

The primary issues this reviewer states are ones inherent to the film source itself. It's unlikely another transfer superior to this one will come along in years. And if that happens it will be Criterion again at the helm.

Your guess is as good as anyone else's. The only insight is if Barnes & Noble has another sale in November, which is what many people are expecting to happen since there was a sale last November.

I noticed the review for the UK edition of Modern Times - is it going to be the same transfer as the Criterion release?

Mr. Patterson is releasing the 78-minute documentary from its original master on DVD for $10 but he's only producing 800 limited edition copies and that is all. It's not Blu-ray but this is probably the only time you are going to get a chance to get this. Previously it was on VHS only and 25 16mm prints. Go to Amazon and search for "Gentleman Tramp" and you will see it for $10.

Hey kndy...

Ordered "Gentleman Tramp" on 9/19 and received it today. Looks like Mr.Patterson shipped it himself. He shipped it First Class on 9/21-9/22.

Pretty cool...he obviously did this out of love for the Little Tramp.

PS...which version do you, Mr. Patterson and/or ANYONE that has purchased this, suggest be viewed first? The Theater version or the Television version?...I was led to believe that the Television version had added material?

Awesome rkish. I received mine a few days ago as well. I would imagine that the Television version would always have more material? But it's like Criterion's "Fanny and Alexander"...I will start with the television first because the theatrical version will probably be shortened.

I think it's great that Mr. Patterson is releasing it, especially for those who are gearing up for the release of "Modern Times". Also, for the price he's selling it for, that's pretty cheap! (note: If anyone wants their copy signed, Mr. Patterson will also sign the cover if you request it).

OH DARN! I wish I had known that...

Oh well...I'm still VERY happy! There is a HUGE insert that comes with it as well. Something on the dimensions of an MoC insert!

So here's a question. Heading to Best Buy in a minute, should I pick up Back Orpheus or Charade?

You only live once, get both . I would get Charade, it's nearly impossible to dislike.
