I watched Solaris again without any distractions and found it to be a lot better than I first thought. Enough so that I will be watching Stalker tonight instead of returning the disc to the store.

The Imogen Sara Smith piece in They Live By Night is really insightful stuff. I wish her book on all things noir was easier to track down.

Oh, and my lord is that transfer amazing. Definitely gonna be up there with my favorite releases of the year.

Not sure if this has been posted, but in Los Angeles a public library card gets you free access to Kanopy, an app that streams films and has the Criterion Collection available. All for free, you just need the card. I'm sure there are other cities that's the case as well.

Is it worth upgrading the Cassavetes boxset? Are the transfers really much better? I've heard the packaging is flimsier than the dvd set.

You could always get the BFI editions for cheaper. Same masters used although different some extras.

I apologize if this has been posted already but Eric Rohmer's Six Moral Tales is now OOP. Hope it gets upgraded at some point.

I'm guessing this means that someone else now has the rights. Here's hoping that that someone else actually releases them on blu. Rohmer is criminally under-represented in Region A.

Really hope Criterion some day releases Morvern Caller (2002) on Blu-ray. Lynne Ramsay is also in the "spotlight" soon with her new movie.

Nice, I have 5 of those myself. Naked and Stalker were two of my pick-ups during this latest B&N sale. Haven't watched Stalker yet, but Naked was outstanding. I'm a huge Ghost World fan, have had it on DVD forever but I'm not sure I'll be springing for the Criterion anytime soon.

I actually just came across that set and then immediately was disappointed to not be able to pick it up.

Regarding Rohmer, yeah, it has to be a rights issue or something, as I'm also just now noticing his total absence on Criterion Blu-ray (upgrades or otherwise).
