I don't like Fincher, but WTF are you talking about?

2 people said they like Fincher before you posted. 2! Just because The Game is coming to Criterion, doesn't mean crap. I most likely won't be buying it, like I will prob skip all of December's 2 releases as well.

Everything sucks if it isn't French, Dennis Hopper, or Rob Zombie I guess. Oh, I forgot Cassavetes, Lou Reed, and silent films. I think that covers everything you might think I like.

I leak out more of my fav things once a month.

For this month, I will leak out that I like The Beach Boys > The Beatles.

I'd have to challenge that...BUT...Pet Sounds is one of the best albums produced in the 60s...McCartney said it was a major influnece on Sgt. Pepper.

Have you seen what Zombie's new movie is supposed to be? Not sure what to make of it. Sounds interesting. I hated all of Zombie's previous films though so I doubt this one will be better.

After a few days of extreme patience, the news is out on rob Zombie's next horror project. Deadline reports that Zombie has committed to make The Lords of Salem his next directorial outing. The film has been put together by Haunted Films, the company run by the Paranormal Activity and Insidious team of Jason Blum, Steven Schneider and Oren Peli. Andy Gould (producer on all of Zombie's films) also produces with Jeremy Platt co-producing. The thriller is set in contemporary Salem, where the inhabitants receive a demonic visit from a 300-year old coven of witches. Zombie will write the script while on his upcoming concert tour circuit, and will shoot next year. Zombie told the site he originally hatched the Salem premise several years ago, but started stirring the cauldron again when he changed his plan to direct a remake of The Blob.

Since he has 100% control over his next film, I hope he films it with 16mm like H2. It looked great.

His films do look good, I'll give him that. I just hope his story development and dialogue improve from previous films.

Go ahead and challenge. But The Beach Boys could of been the best band ever if Charles Manson was a full-time song writer for them. He sings (sung) pretty good too actually, though I believe he was just friends with Dennis Wilson and actually tried out for the Monkees.

Yeah, his flaw is his scriptwriting. Though look what he does. Makes a CD. Now on tour with Alice Cooper WHILE writing a script, which is to be filmed after tour early 2011 for prob a late summer release next year (he films super fast for such great visuals). I believe he shoots a number of different takes to scenes too, hence why he always seems to have alt takes on dvd releases. So in a year he knocks out a CD, tour, and a movie script, which he jumps into filming after.

You're a fool to think Fincher isn't considered one of the most important filmmakers out there.
I dont consider myself elitist, I'm just a man that does not enjoy his Fincher. But apparently you do, and so I guess I am the fool because I dont think a director you think is "one of the most important filmmkaers out there" is all that good.....seems a little elitist to me.

And to the person that gave his box office earnings.......really? Im not even going to begin to list horribal movies that have made a killing at the box office, If you determine how good a movie is by what middle america thinks, then you enjoy your twilight movies while I go watch something a little more interesting.

You are entitled to your opinion. If you don't like his films fair enough, I'm sure many people don't. What I took issue with from your original post is your claim that people are re-writing history and "canonizing" the guy after the fact. That's way off base considering Fincher had a lot of box office appeal back when his films first came out in the theaters.

It's not elitist to not like something. Your original post came off like you were looking down on people who do enjoy his movies, that's being elitist.

Not a Fincher fan. Maybe one day I'll look at his films again.

This is not some low budget independent film director without mainstream appeal. His movies have mainstream popularity and are widely praised.
Transformers: $709,709,780

More then every one of Fincher's movies put together, guess it's the greatest movie of all time right

Guess I must have misread/misheard, and misunderstood the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, Director's Guild of America, American Film Institute, and the vast majority of respected film critics and bloggers around the world when they said he was. My bad, my eyesight and hearing must be off.
