It's not supposed to. It's supposed to be only the Final Cut. 4K FC + BD FC + DVD Dangerous Days + DVD Extras. It's been a mess as people have gotten various combinations of discs.

Really? That's odd. With my copy, I got the disc with the additional cuts (theatrical, international, and director's cut).

Check the Blade Runner thread, but I believe they're aware of it and you can contact them to get whichever disc you're missing.

Does anyone know why Othello is still only available to pre-order for Prime members less than a week away from its official release date?

Sorry, no idea. If its any consolation, as a Prime member I find this "benefit" to be ill-conceived and frankly stupid. Plus, it makes no sense with a niche item such as a this.

The other day I watched this and was jarred to notice several places where the audio gets distorted both on the TrueHD and Dolby Digital English tracks, but not on the French one.

I thought this was supposed to be a reference disc, but I only found one thread about this issue which apparently comes from the source, still could be fixed though.

I revisited my WAC DVD-R of DARK OF THE SUN last night, and while it was a fine SD transfer of the theatrical version, the pre-release censorship is so obvious that I'm afraid I'll never watch it again. It's so obviously hacked up that it's infuriating. I don't fault WAC for this, as they merely transferred the official release print, but until someone - either WAC or Criterion - takes the initiative to either find and reinsert the missing carnage or makes an official (and honest) statement that the search was conducted and the footage no longer exists, I'm going to have to turn my back on the movie. Director Jack Cardiff's original cut needs to be released already!

Unfortunately, they always ship in a bubble mailer for single items. When it comes to digipaks, I always order multiple items to make sure they send it in a box.

Given what they've been doing lately, Amazon US would ship a grand piano in a bubble mailer unless you mark it as a gift, in which case they'll ship it in a box. When I order from Amazon UK, Amazon Japan, Amazon Germany, etc., items almost always come in a box. Recently, I was shipped a large Arrow box set and four or five other discs in a bubble mailer. The bubble mailer was being stretched to its absolute capacity, but luckily nothing was damaged outside of an easily replaceable standard amaray case..

The dialogue is definitely mixed too low, which is a nuisance.

I picked up Vampyr at Barnes & Noble used my card and a 15% off coupon I found online and paid about 33.00 for it. Mainly because I knew it would ship from Amazon in a bubble mailer and sometimes I will order 3-4 titles at once and they still shove them in just a bigger bubble mailer. I decided not to deal with that drama and just pay more and be happy.

That's why I'm waiting until the Flash sale to order Vampyr. If the casing is at all damaged, they'll send a replacement at no charge.

The Film Forum in NYC is showing a two week run of a 4K restoration of THE PASSION OF JOAN OF ARC from Janus, so I think a Blu-ray is not too far behind.

Other items of note: MEMORIES OF UNDERDEVELOPMENT, also from Janus.

And A MATTER OF LIFE OF DEATH, however cited as a "Sony Pictures Release", so I'm not sure Criterion is getting that one.

Sony would hold onto the theatrical distribution even if they license it out to Criterion on video. We know Sony is unlikely to release it themselves on video, so Criterion is the logical choice.

Dammit, I'm pretty happy with the region-free Japanese import but I see a double-dip in my future.

It's funny, too, it's one of those movies I'm ambivalent about when I'm just talking or thinking about it but all I have to do is see a few frames and I'm instantly that ten-twelve year old kid in the Brighton theater on Archer Avenue lo those many (many, many) years ago.

(ftr, there's no way I saw it in 68. I would have been like six. But I definitely wasn't in high school yet either so I gotta figure early 70s)
