I'm not really a Criterion follower so I don't get the joke.

Why does Criterion pretend there's someone called Jon Mulvaney who works for them?

The name doesn't ring a bell. Is it an in-joke?

I think that the cost to get it will be above what Criterion would pay, more so with next year being the 50th Anniversary. Remember they were out bid on the TMWNN Trilogy, which shows they won't break the bank and wreck their over all business plan for one title.

It would be nice to see a restoration and HD version of the premiere length cut, but it seems unlikely to happen.

Oh, from what I understand, we're not even going to see the edited stuff as deleted scenes -- the Kubrick estate won't allow it and that's not going to change. As far as I know, the material is still in the vaults, but I wouldn't be surprised if it gets destroyed -- if it hasn't been already.

I never noticed in the past, since I just would get an email or receive my order, whatever. But is it normal for Criterion to charge you without shipping your order? I just never paid attention before.

As far as I know they charge as soon as you order.

Criterion, committed to releasing "important" classic and contemporary films such as...

The Breakfast Club

Sad.

The Breakfast Club is an important contemporary film. It influenced an entire generation of teenagers.

Whether you like it or not, how can you say The Breakfast Club isn't an important film? It's the essential '80s teen comedy and the '80s were the essential decade for the genre.

Has there been confirmation as to when the next B&N Criterion sale is starting? I called my local B&N yesterday and the manager has no record or information of the sale starting in November and now I'm nervous.

Gotcha. Like I said, I never noticed before. I was just used to Amazon and the like where they only charge you once they ship the product.

I almost totally screwed up my account, as it happens.

I'd rather have "The Breakfast Club" than "Tiny Furniture" "The Lure" "Monterey Pop #2" "Francis Ha" & "Election" for the BIG December release Etc....

I've been in a number of heated arguments in these forums and am probably not very well liked around here, but I can at least say I've never trolled or straight up threadcrapped. My debates are at least of substance. (Except this one. Just couldn't help myself.)

It isn't better than Frances Ha or Election. I haven't seen The Lure and have no interest in Tiny Furniture.

Who cares, though? All subjective.

The post on this page starting all this up again is an obvious troll.

Frances Ha is one of my hands down favorite Criterion blind buys.

That is all.

I have to confess.

I hated it... until I watched it.

Too many pre-conceived notions about what it was about.

I ended up really liking it.

Yeah, I totally get that. For me, Frances Ha is a lot like Only Lovers Left Alive - pretty much everything about those movies screams 'run away! run away!' but I absolutely love them both.

Baumbach's good. "Kicking and Screaming" is one of the funniest films of the last 25 years. For some reason, people associate him with Lena Dunham and hipster shit. "While We're Young" is a parody of hipster culture. "Mistress America" is fanstastic and I think Greta Gerwig is one of the most magnetic actresses around. I love "Frances Ha". Big fan of Baumbach. Criterion should dig up one of his most underrated films, "Mr Jealousy", and put it out. An upgrade to "Kicking and Screaming" would also be nice.
