Wings of Desire and Paths of Glory are the two earliest ones on BD that I recall. It was Grand Illusion on DVD.

Because I saw a clip of this on TV and thought it looked marvelous. Sure enough, when I watched the films I was immediately smitten by their style. I'm actually still a little mad this set hasn't hit Blu-Ray yet.

On Blu-Ray:



This was a no-brainer for me, I had this on DVD and I found the upgrade satisfactory.

Here's the pic I took of my haul from that time including my first BD-ROM drive. As you may see from the pic, I still wasn't wholly sold on the blu-ray thingy, which is why Thin Red Line and Seventh Seal in that pic are DVD format. Once I'd seen what blu-ray brought to the table, that error was quickly rectified.

My first Criterion anything was the BD of The Red Shoes. It's still one of my favorites.
