I think it is a great cover, very Francis Bacon. The painting itself is being shown at Egbert Baqué Contemporary Art I believe.

Lot's of paintings in this style :P

I don't know, the Tom Jones cover is pretty underwhelming.

I've yet to see the film (I wanted to wait for a proper release), so this cover may be explained within the movie, a la Certified Copy. But, from a purely aesthetic standpoint, it does absolutely nothing for me.

To me it looks like a painting someone would do in high school art class.

It looks like a picture of present day Rainer Werner Fassbinder.

I'm pretty sure there was some sort of miscommunication with the art department. That guy looks an awful lot like this guy:

Why can't they use this one instead?

For the life of me, I have no idea why this is not yet in my collection of Criterion titles. A brilliant film, and adaptation. I was spooked by the book at school, and haven't seen the film in ages.

I need to rectify this at the next Flash Sale.

Thanks for the reminder.

Barnes & Noble have a 50% SRP a couple times a year (July probably next one) plus they have have a few other sales where you can purchase Criterion titles, membership discounts also..

Amazon, Deep Discount, ect have sales in the $20 - $25 range.
Just a quick question about the flash sale... are all titles on sale during the flash sale or just select titles?

Everything thats in stock is on sale, so no backordered items or pre orders but everything else is fair game!
They've also been a LOT better about keeping current releases in stock during the last couple of years, they used to sell out super fast.

I just remembered Malick’s Voyage of Time. Did this get released anywhere? I mean on disc?

Also is it likely Criterion is gong to release it as a bonus with their eventual Tree of Life release?

I’ve never seen this but I preordered it when target had 15 or 20% off and it was included online. I’m excited to watch it.

I wonder: is there any thinking behind what posters they release?
They release what they think are best? or maybe what they think will sell more?
