Except for the first, which I last saw in in high school, all blind buys by directors who have other work I've loved:
12 Angry Men
Summer Hours
To Be or Not to Be
People on Sunday

Put a gun to my head and I couldn't tell you why but that was one of my favorite blind buys. Didn't really know what to expect, actually probably didn't even expect all that much and I just loved it.

Took some time to catch up on my Criterion backlog over the weekend. Breakfast Club and Bittle Rocket were a few old favorites that I really enjoyed revisiting. Both looked great. Also watched Stalker, which was equal parts mesmerizing and tedious. Beautiful movie and can’t wait to watch it again, but I could help but think it could have been just as affecting if it was 30 minutes shorter.

Lastly, I finally watched the Criterion Mulhilland Drive disc. For a long time I considered this to be my favorite movie but I can’t say I enjoyed this disc. Lots of weird artifacts and noise that I found very distracting. Really hope it gets cleaned up in a 4K release some day.
Several people, myself included, had issues with this release. However, it can be fixed by adjusting the sharpness level of the tv. I found that it only showed up on one of my tvs. The same thing happened with The Graduate.

I played it pretty safe this time.

Elevator to the Gallows
The Philadelphia Story
Le Samourai
Hopscotch
Personal Shopper

Personal Shopper and Hopscotch are the only blind buys and Hopscotch might not even be a blind buy

Just 3 for me. Hope to get more during the B&N sale:

It also great news that Passion of Joan of Arc dropped to $19.80 and I already pre-ordered when it became available so I have the price guarantee. Also will be getting my copy of Silence of the Lambs from Amazon today. Going to be a busy week. I think Elevator to the Gallows will either be an April buy or I'll wait till the BN sale. Really depends.

Already had NOTLD coming from Amazon. TSOTL too, but since they hadn't dropped their price yet, grabbed it on today's sale. Also got:

Pale Flower
A Man Escaped
Branded to Kill
Beyond the Valley of the Dolls

Hope that will hold me until July.

I'll sit this one out. The film I wanted (TSOTL) was delivered a day early by Amazon.

I have living dead and silence coming today from Amazon.

Got the Before Trilogy and Summer Hours today which pushed me over to my $50 cert (after 4 damn years).

Picked up Tokyo Drofter, Elevator to the Gallows, and Election.

Was a great Criterion day. Now to find the shelf space that I know I don’t have...

Told myself I wouldn't go to overboard for my first sale. Still not sure if this qualifies as overboard or far too conservative, but I grabbed:

Persona
Solaris
Tokyo Story
Naked Lunch
Eyes Without A Face
CLASSIC HITCHCOCK collection
The Life Aquatic
THE COMPLETE LADY SNOWBLOOD
Kuroneko
Antichrist
Scanners
La Dolce Vita
The Seventh Seal

I haven't seen any Ulmer yet, but co-directed by Siodmak and co-written by Wilder and Siodmak... That may not be reason enough to love it, but with or without a gun to my head, it's reason enough to take a flyer on it!

Same here. I have The Silence of the Lambs and Night of the Living Dead (both blind buys) coming today. Getting even more Criterions feels too excessive to me right now.

BTW, has FilmStruck on Roku improved at all? I heard it was pretty bad before.

I'm sitting this one out, since I'm all caught on Criterion titles by way of inexpensive Amazon prices and such, but it's all good.

Night of the Living Dead
and The Silence of the Lambs should both be showing up today.

Picked up the Criterion Rock Box (been wanting this for a while, it wasn't available in Canadian Costcos), The Asphalt Jungle and Downhill Racer.

Watching the winter Olympics put me in the mood for that last one.

Ah, when I figured the sale would be later, I was going to utilize my 50 gift cards, but I don't want to use it on something I'm lukewarm about just to use it, so that'll wait til September.

Grabbed:
Elevator to the Gallows
Breakfast Club
Night of the Living Dead
Westfront 1918
Kameraschaft
Silence of the Lambs

The Hero, Actor's Revenge, and Tom Jones will have to wait.

No. It's still an awful mess that crashes at least once during the runtime (typically towards the end.)

A friendly PSA that the Flash Sale is the best time to get the Classic Hitchcock collection.

It's a criterion.com exclusive, and you get all four movies for $47.50 with the half off promo, as opposed to buying all four individually at MSRP (or half-off MSRP during B&N sales).
