Put a gun to my head and I couldn't tell you why but that was one of my favorite blind buys. Didn't really know what to expect, actually probably didn't even expect all that much and I just loved it.

Took some time to catch up on my Criterion backlog over the weekend. Breakfast Club and Bittle Rocket were a few old favorites that I really enjoyed revisiting. Both looked great. Also watched Stalker, which was equal parts mesmerizing and tedious. Beautiful movie and can’t wait to watch it again, but I could help but think it could have been just as affecting if it was 30 minutes shorter.

Lastly, I finally watched the Criterion Mulhilland Drive disc. For a long time I considered this to be my favorite movie but I can’t say I enjoyed this disc. Lots of weird artifacts and noise that I found very distracting. Really hope it gets cleaned up in a 4K release some day.

Several people, myself included, had issues with this release. However, it can be fixed by adjusting the sharpness level of the tv. I found that it only showed up on one of my tvs. The same thing happened with The Graduate.

Also will be getting my copy of Silence of the Lambs from Amazon today. Going to be a busy week. I think Elevator to the Gallows will either be an April buy or I'll wait till the BN sale. Really depends.

I haven't seen any Ulmer yet, but co-directed by Siodmak and co-written by Wilder and Siodmak... That may not be reason enough to love it, but with or without a gun to my head, it's reason enough to take a flyer on it!

Same here. I have The Silence of the Lambs and Night of the Living Dead (both blind buys) coming today. Getting even more Criterions feels too excessive to me right now.

BTW, has FilmStruck on Roku improved at all? I heard it was pretty bad before.

No. It's still an awful mess that crashes at least once during the runtime (typically towards the end.)
