This sale I picked up the John Cassevetes set, Hollis Frampton Odyssey, Blind Chance, and Pasolini's Trilogy of Life.

Wanted Elevator to the Gallows, but it went on backorder almost immediately.

(Already got Night of the Living Dead from Amazon and pre-ordered Joan of Arc)

When a film is this deserving, no apologies needed. No idea, but the 2009 release has held up pretty well, the supplements aren't shabby, all for $9.99.

Haha thanks. So there’s no rumors or anything at the moment of it?

Having spent oodles lately, I went light for this sale. Just bought two I've had my eye on for awhile - Mildred Pierce and Breaking Point.

Hell, I purposefully stock more titles than I can watch so I'll still have new discs post The Great Physical Format Purge of 2020.

[emoji38]That's what I was thinking.

I've been doing horrible this past year or two.
I've had to really slow on blind buys the last couple sales. Trying to just stick to exiting announcements of things I've seen and been waiting for a proper BD. [emoji41]

Well, knowing Criterion as we do, let's go ahead and make guesses as to how long of a delay there may be with May announcements this time?

I'm thinking between a Flash sale and Valentine's Day (oh, brother) that this will be enough of an excuse for them to postpone announcements for a day or two. Hell, since it's near the end of the week, and on the cusp of yet another long holiday (President's Day, OH BROTHER) weekend, let's just wait till they all get back, shall we?

So, let's shoot for next Tuesday, shall we?

Actually, they often don't announce the first day back from a holiday weekend. So, let's just go ahead and shoot for next Wednesday, shall we?

By the way, I only PARTLY jest....

I'm uncharacteristically optimistic today for some reason.

Not only do I expect announcements today, I actually expect something that will delight the hell out of me.

Arsenic and Old Lace, maybe. The Thin Man. The Big Clock. The Bad and the Beautiful. A Face in the Crowd. Oh, or maybe some Preminger. Advise and Consent or The Best Man would be pretty awesome. Spinal Tap would be pretty cool. Stray Dog, Drunken Angel or The Bad and the Bea...The Bad Sleep Well would be most welcome.

And I've been yammering about Charley Varrick for years. That would be the perfect meat to this week's Criterion sandwich.

Place an order Tuesday, get great announcements on Thursday, have the Tues order show up Friday.
