I realize this is not a Criterion release but many of the people on this thread should definitely keep an eye out for Court (2014). It's a brilliant objective look at the lumbering beast of legal proceedings in India, how the fate of an undertrial accused is dependent on a system that runs on its own impassive rhythm. It was awarded the Best Feature Film of 2014 by the National Film Awards committee of India and has been screened at several major international film festivals.

Here's a wiki link to the film itself: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Court_(film)

I've got the UK releases of I Wish and Like Father, Like Son, too. ...and CC's Still Walking.

I'd love to see one of the "forgotten" titles get released.
I Wish has a HK blu as well, in case anyone needs Region A.

If you are region free there are a lot more options, though not all blu. Most of his films have Japanese dvds that uncharacteristically have English subs.

Have there been any whispers at all that Criterion has the BRD TRILOGY again?

I remember somebody mentioning they did when all three films appeared back Janus' website, couldn't swear to it though.

My BDs from the sale arrived today. One is damaged.

How do I exchange it? Do I just send it to the Criterion NY office with a note?

Jus watched Overlord for the first time. Was absolutely fascinating the way it was made with all the archival footage. Took me awhile to get into it, but the last 30 minutes were just fantastic. Feel like I’ll love it even more the next time I watch it.

Apparently not even Criterion can afford to penny up for proper packaging anymore - FIVE films (incl. SOTL digipak) jammed in to a crap mailing envelope. Guess it's time to cross Criterion off my list too ...

Just got six from the recent sale in a box. No problems. Never got a Criterion order in a mailer, never had a problem with an order, no damage ever. They’re top notch they in my book. Where do you live?

I didn't order anything in the last Criterion.com sale - I was responding to someone who did.

My previous Criterion.com order - Hitchcock box set
[Show spoiler] and Jellyfish Eyes
- came in a box too.

My Amazon orders of NOTLD and Silence of the Lambs came together in a bubble mailer though.

Criterion.com orders are fulfilled by Alliance entertainment (same folks who run deepdiscount etc.), so that's why you received one of those corrugated mailers...although in my experience they typically use boxes for orders with 4 or more titles. Criterion stopped directly filling their orders at least a year ago.

My BDs didn't arrive in a box either. But my damaged case and torn artwork looks like it was damaged before it was even packaged. It doesn't appear to have been crushed during shipping and there's no damage to the cardboard envelope. Whoever packaged it must have known they were sending a crappy copy.

Arrow Films in the UK just released a limited edition box of I Wish, Like Father Like Son & After the Storm called Family Values: Three Films by Hirokazu Kore-eda which I ordered from Amazon UK with Artificial Eye's release of Our Little Sister. The Arrow box looks to be all region; the image posted for it shows blu-rays with the pyramidal ABC symbol on it; while Our Little Sister is region B locked.

I'm also a die-hard Hirokazu fan and have been yearning for more of his titles being released by Criterion. I was "lucky" enough to buy Maborosi & After Life when New Yorker released them on dvd in the early 2000s and bought Nobody Knows when it came out from MGM. But after that, except for Still Walking it's mostly been a bleak desert for Hirokazu film releases in the US.

All my orders arrived (one last Friday and two today) and I was happy with the condition of everything. No major damage, and that's all I care about. This was my first time taking advantage of the sale and my enthusiasm got the best of me:

The box set is also locked to region B, I just got mine this evening and tested it on my A player.

It’s a really nice set, just about 7 hours of extras.

I'm well aware of that. I'm also well aware that a company can specify how they want a supplier to pack/ship their product for them, to the point of including that in their request for quotes as well as the awarded contract. And I would think that a boutique label whose business model needs to maintain a high product price would do just that, since in effect Alliance now represents Criterion on the fulfillment side and what they do /don't do can directly impact Criterion's reputation.

Nowdays they call this "protecting the brand", but it's not new nor is it rocket science.
