I like Armageddon. Liv Tyler is in it.

And Buscemi.

I don’t hate it either. But I don’t “love” it.

It’s definitely better than some of the stuff Criterion has released like I said. I have more gripes, but everyone has their own taste. Like Salo, and the Waters films, and few others are all complete & absolute garbage IMO.

You take the good with the bad. I’ve seen people with extensive Criterion Collections that don’t own anything earlier than 1960 which is like the exact opposite of me. So as long as they keep a wide variety and continue to strike a healthy middle ground I think they can do a good job appeasing us all by playing to their varying audiences.

Armageddon is a blast. It's idiotic, but that doesn't mean it isn't fun as heck. The movie is the absolute definition of overwrought. But that's why it works so well! If you're gonna go that way then you damn well better go all the way. I have zero problem with someone who is willing to just throw any pretense of subtlety right out the window as long as that person's honest about it and doesn't pretend that what he's creating is something other than what it is. I might not always like the end product, but I certainly won't be critical of the effort.

Plus it's got an awesome soundtrack!

I also kind of liked it too. I mean I wouldn't buy it but it was an enjoyable enough film to watch. It also was the last movie I watched at our old local drive-in theater. Also, how can you complain about Aerosmith?

I was like 11 when their Livin' on the Edge video premiered on MTV. It changed my life. That, Beavis and Butthead, and the buzz clips. Yeah, that was back when MTV meant something in the Universe.

I want a Criterion Blu-ray of Terminator 2. Every Blu-ray version of this movie I have watched looked terrible to me.

Yeah, I also was just 11, but that's back when MTV actually was more about the music than every garbage reality show. We used to watch a lot of Beavis and Butt-Head at our house. I sometimes listened to music on MTV but it was more about watching Beavis and Butt-Head.

Same here, I grew up watching MTV in its glory days. Real World, Road Rules, Daria, Beavis & Butthead... It didn't really start to turn to crap until the early 2000s when they cancelled those shows, largely stopped playing music and went to all "reality tv" and had stuff like Jersey Shore. VH1 was the same way, used to watch "Pop-Up Video" and a couple of other things on there and they took the same route MTV did, quit playing music and it pretty much turned to crap.

TBH, I really never was into the music that was on MTV as I grew up on classic rock and by the mid-late 90s there was little of it to be found on MTV, I usually just watched for Beavis and Butthead. Though there was a lot more music then there is now(I think they only show music videos from 4-6 AM?). I usually watched VH1 more in the mid-2000s when they had more music videos and the "I Love..." series though by the mid-2000s it was just syndicated by the time I started watching them.

Why not? It's surely worthy of the Criterion banner. It's one of the greatest action films of all time.

Criterion should just sell those blue stickers so people can put them on whatever discs they want.

Heck, let's make it a Cameron combo pack and throw in The Abyss for good measure!

I’d be down for Criterion releasing The Terminator over the sequel, personally.

I’ve never understood that assertion. I thought it was so dull. In fact, I think Cameron’s only great movie was the first Terminator.

Yep... and like stonesfan said, it's in desperate need of a great blu-ray.

And oh yeah, it would be a massive seller.

Not sure why people are turning their nose up at the prospect of Criterion releasing certain extremely popular movies anymore....
