Since Criterion did great with the animated cult classics Watership Down and Fantastic Planet, consider this in a special edition with new 2K or 4K restoration supervised by Ralph Bakshi, commentary, featurette on making the film, trailers, TV spots and still gallery.

It needs a blu-ray badly and been one of my favorite animated films since i was 12 for 25 years since i saw it on Cinemax with Heavy Metal, Hey Good Lookin' and Vampire Hunter D which became favorites of mine.

"Animal Crackers" is already on BD, so I'd definitely prefer "A Night at the Opera". That or "A Day at the Races".

I'd love that but it's with Warner's and they've been holding off for better elements being found. For the most part, the existing DVD is ok but the scenes originally cut for the reissue are in rougher shape.

There was a fair amount of controversy generated by the differences in color timing between Criterion and the previous release from Eureka, with at least some folks believing that there has been revisionist 'teal'-ing.

Now that The Cranes are Flying has had a 2k restoration completed for about 6-8 mths, I really hope Criterion dont wait too long to release it. One of the all time great films with some of the greatest cinematography.
