Greed is my holy grail. For a brief period of time it was available on iTunes and I was convinced it would soon see a Blu-ray release but it never did and I kick myself for not buying it at the time.

There are zero rumours, unfortunately, but Criterion does work with Warner a lot so there is hope. Honestly, I can't imagine why Warner would refuse to license it to Criterion or that Criterion would not be interested.

Thanks. Ideally, whenever someone does decide to release it they would include both available cuts.

That 4-hour reconstruction was done in 1999, so it’s hardly new. Obviously, they’ve had close to two decades to release it by now on disc.

I knew it wasn't new since I'd first seen it years ago on TCM but didn't realize the reconstruction was that old.

If what I have heard is correct, Warner refused BFI access to materials for an HD transfer of the uncut version, which is why the BFI had to be content with a DVD release of the X-rated cut.

I wouldn't say that. It might make a Criterion release unlikely because they wouldn't want to film new interviews with him or anything, but I'm definitely holding out hope for a WAC release.

It might be a while, but it might come out through someone someday. "Leonard Part 6", which is terrible, just got released in spite of Cosby's troubles. And we still get all of Roman Polanski's films and so on.

Whoever would likely wait until several more years pass, anyway.

I'm sure this has been discussed, but what are the odds of a Criterion release of Drugstore Cowboy? Watching it on Prime, I'm surprised there's no blu yet of it, in the US.

However, it appears Lionsgate has it, at least according to Prime. Does that mean it'll never get what it deserves?
