With it being from Lionsgate, chances of pretty much nil that Criterion will be able to license it.

...pretty much nil. So you're saying there's a chance!

As I'm sure many if not ALL will agree, it's such a shame when a company is sitting on a great film and they just doing nothing with it.

Well, nothing in terms of a physical release. The version of Drugstore on Prime looks pretty solid in HD, and for all I know the Lionsgate business model says "that's A-OK, nothing further, Scotty."

Who's Scotty? Don't ask me, I don't work for Lionsgate.

Today is Charlie Chaplin's birthday.

Maybe a title will be announced in his honor.

Yes, I think Lionsgate's approach to catalogue titles is streaming only... Hopefully STUDIOCANAL eventually come to their senses and end their "distribution" agreement with Lionsgate and allow things like Marienbad, Third Man and The Man Who Fell to Earth back into the collection.

That'd be aces. It's been too long. THE CIRCUS would be nice.

They really need to finish his films off. The last Chaplin release was The Kid in February 2016. It's not as though they have a ton to go - The Circus, A Woman of Paris, A King in New York, and the Chaplin Revue/Shorts.

I’m still wondering if WOMAN may be paired with something.

A King of New York is often paired with it, at least historically on DVD. They should treat these like a The Killing/Killer's Kiss scenario, IMO. No one is all that enthralled with A King of New York from what I've seen over the years.

I honestly barely remember either film. But I can’t see them getting many full prices out of both of these.

I’m gonna say:

Dietrich set
Memories of Underdevelopment
The Circus OR a Wenders (Until the End of the World, perhaps?)
Cold Weather OR Eight Hours Don't Make a Day
Unknown upgrade

Great, great film, but I doubt Criterion will take this on. The reconstructed cut has been around since '99 and TCM has aired it in the past.

I love the enthusiasm though.

Another epic that needs to get a release stateside is Abel Gance's Napoleon.

Bringing Up Baby would be epic. One of my most wanted blu-rays was announced today, it would be awesome if this one was announced too.

Haven't been paying attention in a while--is there any talk of Wes Anderson's Grand Budapest Hotel coming to Criterion soon? It's conspicuously his only film not in the collection, I think, and given that I just purchased the regular Blu I expect it to be announced any day now...

Probably not until at least the Fall. Anderson was asked about it while promoting Isle of Dogs and he said he had not yet prepped it for the Criterion release.

Yes, it's confirmed to be coming, likely next year.

According to Lynne Ramsay, I don't think we should expect those films anytime soon.

Really hoping we get Z though.
