I wasn't thinking about it yet...until you made me start.

I shifted my buying to Criterion direct for the last couple of cycles, but I always like to buy some Criterion in the B&N sale as I get to handle the goods (three stores within 20 minutes).

There are currently 48 titles in my Criterion Wish List, so I'll see what they have and likely pick up a few.

Yes. Gotta do some savings. I want the Sternberg/Dietrich set, some Bergman (preferably Autumn Sonata) and Anatomy of a Murder.

Looking back at the Echo Bridge transfer, I'm actually kind of impressed by how it looked. The Criterion is definitely superior, with a more filmic look, and better detailed, but the EB one isn't that bad all things considered.

Yeah, my plan for July, as it stands now anyways, is:

Dietrich/von Sternberg set
Virgin Spring
Beyond the Hills
Sex, Lies, and Videotape

Those are absolutely sure bets. Whether I add anything in the interim is up for debate ... but probable, if I'm being honest with myself.

Female Trouble
Midnight Cowboy
Mishima: A Life in Four Chapters
The New World
The Passion of Joan of Arc
Paths of Glory
Rumble Fish

Don't worry. I can afford it.

I am moving right around then, so my plan was to try my best to ignore it. But now work just sent me a giftcard, so I have decided I can responsibly spend that on "Tom Jones", "Age of Innocence", "The Awful Truth", and probably "Midnight Cowboy", and still not feel like I'm over-spending exactly when I shouldn't.

I am, and for good reason.

I'll be away for most of July on holiday, so the window of opportunity for this sale is very slim for me.

And making that window smaller is the addition of currency exchange, as well as the "need" for GST on online shopping, courtesy of the Aussie Government.

But I'll get through. Just watch.
I already pre-ordered the Dietrich-von Sternberg set, but I'm looking to get both King Hu films(Dragon Inn, A Touch of Zen) and then I'm not sure about the next film(I'm debating Anatomy of a Murder or Elevator to the Gallows).

Naw. The Virgin Spring is the one I'm looking forward to the most, but I'm too impatient to wait for the July sale. Even though it's only a few days. Heck, I'm willing to pay the extra few bucks to get that one as soon as I can.

The only other title I have on my radar is Walkabout, which I just rented and watched tonight. It was surprisingly more engaging than I expected. If it's still on my mind in July, I'll definitely jump on it.

Other than that, I might be perusing the catalogue for potential blind-buys. Always risky for Criterion, but always adventurous too (and I've had so many phenomenal hits doing it).
