If there are any Criterions (like Dead Man) you want before the July sale, now is the best time to get them. At Target most criterions are $20.79 (after 20% sale) and $19.75 if you have a red card.

I have the Kino 2-disc version, but I'm going to import the Eureka release, as well, for some of the extras. They have an exclusive audio commentary, and a booklet with at least one essay. I expect the Eureka would offer somewhat better PQ, as well.

Tape it from TCM. It's one of my favorite films of the period, and Emil Jannings gives a fantastic performance, as well.

I'm picking up the boxed set in July. I won't be able to wait until the Flash sale for it.

I didn't see that, as DirecTV's guide didn't go out that far yet. Though, I might have missed it anyway.

Saying "Emil Jannings gives a fantastic performance," is pretty much the same as saying "Emil Jannings is in it." Isn't it?

I most likely will just pick up the Kino release. Also, I ended up pre-ordering the Dietrich set as I couldn't wait till the flash sale. Anyway, I will get the two King Hu films and then something else during the sale.

I don't think he's made a bad film. I'd say "Stranger Than Paradise", "Down by Law", "Mystery Train", "Night on Earth", "Dead Man", "Ghost Dog", "Only Lovers Left Alive", and "Paterson" fall into the great category for me, while "The Limits of Control", "Broken Flowers", and "Coffee and Cigarettes" are solidly above average. But if someone doesn't get into the style of his films right away, then there's not much that will change his or her mind IMO.

"Dead Man" is a glacially paced acid Western with a main character who is a complete blank slate. Depp's character is very unusual because it gives the audience nothing to work with. He's not a particularly good or bad man, he's just this guy kind of floating through the landscape.
I adore Dead Man & Only Lovers Left Alive, and I really like Mystery Train & Stranger Than Paradise. Not a huge fan of Ghost Dog, Down by Law, or Broken Flowers, but I don't actively dislike any of them. Night on Earth is the only one I've seen that I can say I don't really like, although I think parts are really good. Need to see Paterson, Limits of Control, & Coffee and Cigarettes.

Just chiming in on the Jarmusch discussion to say Paterson is one of my favorites of the decade. It's a film I like returning to solely for its rhythm of character. I love it.

There's a German and French blu. I've no idea how the PQ is though.

Not very good. I have the German one and it's basically an upscaled DVD. The German BD of "The Limits of Control" is nice though. I'm patiently waiting for Criterion to upgrade "Stranger Than Paradise" and "Night on Earth" and holding off on the UK BDs.

I had a feeling that was the case based on the user review for the release. That's good to know about The Limits of Control though. I know a lot of people don't seem to like the film but I really dig it.

I have been eyeing that Jim Jarmusch: The Complete Collection German box set to tide me over until Criterion upgrades the rest of their Jarmusch releases. Maybe Shout Select could release a blu-ray of Broken Flowers and The Limits of Control.

Stranger Than Paradise and Down By Law have a similar style and tone to Mystery Train, Dead Man, and Night on Earth. Since you like those 3 films, it's a safe bet you will enjoy Stranger Than Paradise and Down By Law.

Plus Down By Law stars Tom Waits and anything will Tom Waits in it is worth watching.

The Criterion dvd of Stranger Than Paradise does include Jarmusch's first full length feature, Permanent Vacation, and is worth checking out as well.

Regarding Jarmusch, I've seen only one of his films, the recent Paterson, which was a serenely joyful little masterpiece. Can't wait to delve deeper into his filmography.

It's available overseas, but sadly not domestically.

I really hope that changes, though.

I believe Einstein's brain was removed during his autopsy and was driven cross country in the trunk of a car.

Don't know about a movie though.
