Turn that frown upside down, people.

The Criterion cover art for The Tree of Life suits the tone of the movie wonderfully well.

Wow, yeah. That Under the Skin poster is one of the best in recent memory, too. What happened?

You have one of the most visually appealing movies of the past two decades and you put a bunch of floating heads on the cover?

I like the cover for Tree of Life. Reminds me of the style they went with for The Thin Red Line. I still like the original poster more, but that can be found on the Fox blu-ray and this Criterion cover might end up being a nice fold out panorama since it’s pretty likely this is a digipak.

Oh it does, but it's rendered absolutely appallingly. Looks like it's been done in Microsoft Word. Absolutely no segue/feathering between any of the different faces.

I hope it isn't a digipak... even if it is, I hope they do a release in a standard case eventually...

Yeah I agree, the artwork does fit the tone of the film... and being printed on a cardboard case will make it look even more beautiful, plus having fold outs will add more place for other images and artwork!

Reminds me of Y Tu Mama Tambein artwork tbh, which was horrible on screen, but in person very nice

Hes good! His character is kind of a dick but its almost understandable considering how delusional the lead character is when it comes to their relationship.

Well its 2 discs (3 on DVD) and ' PLUS: An essay by critic Kent Jones and a 2011 piece on the film by critic Roger Ebert ' so highly likely.

Also, fun random fact! Ivan Julian was my sound design teacher in film school!

"Heaven Can Wait" is top-shelf Lubitsch. I'll definitely upgrade that one.

Damn! He played with some legendary musicians! The Clash, Matthew Sweet, The Bongos, Shriekback (XTC and Gang of 4).

I think it's one of his weaker ones of the big hitters. It's all very safe. To Be Or Not To Be, that's Lubitsch at his most cutting and vital in the 40s.

"The Ballad of Gregorio Cortez" is a great film. Robert M Young is one of the more underrated filmmakers of the 70s and 80s, with great credits like "Alambrista!", "Rich Kids" and "Short Eyes". Don't sleep on that title. "Smithereens" is also a cool film worth checking out.

The only one that interests me this month is Tree of Life.

I've never seen it, but by the trailer it looks like a merge of 400 Blows and 2001 A Space Odyssey.

Is it as good as those films?

Is it worth a watch?
