That's probably it -- Jackson has been talking since the laserdisc of "The Frighteners" came out about doing similar docs with all of the behind-the-scenes footage he shot for his first three movies, and has consistently been too busy to actually do any of the work himself (he seems to want to be involved in that process, possibly just because he enjoyed doing that for "The Frighteners" when he had months of waiting with nothing better to do than cut together the doc). For that matter, it seems like even once they finish the restoration work, it will languish for years like "True Lies" or "The Abyss", waiting to be approved by a director who in theory really wants to be hands on but in practice is far too busy with other things.

It would be nice, but for now I'm happy with my region free Concorde Bluray copy.

I finished watching three brilliant French classics released through Studio Canal, Le Corbeau, Quai Des Orvefres, and Le Trou. A real shame if Studio Canal still hold the rights to these films since Criterion would have released any one of these films by now. I'm glad I have a region free player for that very reason.

I enjoyed The Hobbit trilogy, as did a whole lot of other people. It wasn’t as good as The Lord of the Rings, but it was still enjoyable, and returning to Middle Earth, and a much beloved story from my youth, was worth every penny I spent in the theater, and on the blu-ray releases.
