Is Ran ever gonna get a blu ray release on Criterion?

I noticed Silence of the Lambs is letterboxed along the top/bottom/sides? Very slight, like about 1/4" along perimeter all the way around the image?

Small black bars are supposed to be on the top and bottom but I didn't notice any on the sides

I've been getting into Japanese cinema a little bit, and was reading an article on Mikio Naruse. I've never seen one of his films - of which he made many - but there seems to be a complete dearth of BD releases anywhere (and few on DVD, for that matter). For anyone in the know, is there some kind of rights issue in play?

Also anyone think that Pi has potential for joining the collection. I would like to see Darren Aronofsky in the collection.

I was just thinking about that film and wanting to revisit it the other day. A criterion release would be awesome.

So I recently blind bought Passion of Joan of Arc and am looking for suggestions. I know I definitely want to watch the film with a score but what would you guys recommend the 24 FPS version or the 20 FPS version and what score would you recommend to accompany it?

Apparently Soderbergh’s Contagion recently went quietly OOP. If only I could think of what label might have grabbed it. Perhaps one that has already released 7 of his films. A label with a functioning Warner Bros. deal. Could such a label exist?

I'd like to see both this film and Primer (2004) join the collection. They make for a nice pair of ultra low-budget, mind-bending indie debuts.
