Yeah...you're right...they apply the discounts one after the other and don't add them up and do them all at once. So I'm about .40 off.

Don't worry...I know that I didn't include tax...but doesn't Criterion charge local tax? I know that Amazon definitely does.

Yeah...I think I'm between 8.25 and 8.50% tax.

From Amazon:

Items sold by Amazon.com LLC, or its subsidiaries, and shipped to destinations in the states of Kansas, Kentucky, New York, North Dakota, or Washington are subject to tax.

I'll just wait a few weeks for the 50% off sale. Will have enough to do with October horror titles and Back to the Future next week.

Ya, I believe a lot of it depends on where Amazon's shipping facilities are located. Seems like most of my orders originate from Kentucky.

Considering House on Criterion's site is priced the same as other single disc titles I wonder why Amazon has to have such a inflated price. That's the only reason I'm passing on it for now. I'll wait till a sale.

If anything Criterion should offer some kind of deal when ordering a bunch of their movies at once. They have to many titles coming out for me to keep up at those prices. They need to reward their supporters.

In certain states they do. I lived in NY and it was annoying to factor in the extra charge...

Did any fellow canadian order criterion BD's from B & N? I was wondering if the shipping costs are high to ship them to Canada?

Depends on how much you order me thinks.

My last order were for 9 blus, and the shipping + processing was about 22bucks.

Beautifully reasonable in my opinion

Seven Samurai popped up in my Gold Box for $34.67... I hate spending that much on a Blu-ray. Is the Barnes and Noble November sale officially official? Retail on it is $49.99, correct? So I'll still be spending $25 and tax. Decisions, decisions.

Just wait. Even if the B&N sale doesn't happen, I bet it will be cheaper somewhere during the holidays.

Lowest price I can find on Seven Samurai at the moment is Family Video for $29.99. I think they charge a flat $1.99 for shipping. From all the stuff I've read it sounds like the B&N sale is almost a sure thing for November.

Funny, I did the exact opposite with Paths of Glory. Just couldn't wait for a possible sale to happen. I want that disc as soon as possible .

As per my last post...

It won't be too bad as I'm a member and have a $5.00 coup from BN...I think it comes out $26.99 before tax...I can live with that!

what's funny is that if Amazon was smart, they would already know that a B&N sale was going to happen and have one before them. They would take all the business away. They seem to match some prices at times, but never an all out sale before the B&N one. I have prime and I would spend the money at amazon before I would spend it at B&N. I also think many many others would also do the same.

Amazon did NOTHING during the last sale, but pretty much matched the one before that, so it's a toss-up at this point........ I'm sure they track the number of pre-orders being canceled, or the dips in sales on the new ones, so either it makes sense for them to have the sale, or they are better off not having it....... It's tough to say........ perhaps they made better profits by NOT matching the sale last time, I don't do their books, so I don't know

I have the AK-100 set, but nowhere near having all of the spines (and have given up trying ) I caught the Criterion DVD bug a little too late in order to keep up with them...... had I started in 1997 when I started buying DVDs, there may have been a chance..... I'm not sure when Criterion started releasing DVDs though...... I just know I wasn't really "aware" of them until late in the game.

I'm not sure if anyone that frequents this particular forum does, but I'm sure there a number of people out there that do have all the releases, including original disc releases and their re-releases, if applicable.

Have you not ever frequented Criterion's website to look at their films? If not, do yourself a favor and check it out. Heck, it even tells you which titles are out of print now.

Criterion DVD Listing (Films in the main collection with a spine #)

Criterion blu-ray listing

Criterion Eclipse DVD Sets

Criterion DVD Collector Sets

Essential Art House DVDs (Cheaper releases of popular titles, minus the bonus features... some titles not even in the main collection)

"Other" DVDs (Janus Film releases, Merchant Ivory)
