May be wrong here, but Criterion just tweeted a GIF of a birthday cake, no caption.
https://twitter.com/Criterion/status...509706241?s=20

And it seems to look a lot like the cake from Sisters...

Just rewatched "Brute Force" on Filmstruck. One of the greatest prison films of them all. Would love to see a blu-ray upgrade from Criterion!

Sisters would be a good October title.

My guesses:

Naked Prey (already mentioned)
Sisters (sure)
Eight Hours Don't Make a Day (feels enough time has passed)
Altered States (drinking the Kool-aid)
I Walked with a Zombie (wishful thinking)

If we don’t get Lost Highway I may cry. Yes, I know there’s no evidence Criterion has it but I need it, you know?

Cache or Funny Games would be good, too. It would be cool if Criterion somehow released a blu with both versions of Funny Games.

This seems like a very reasonable slate.

Man, I hope we get some Japanese releases here.

So many films need upgrades, and so many of their films don't have a single release.

Eight Hours Don't Make a Day was already confirmed for October back in March via the Fassbinder Foundation:

Criterion will be releasing Fassbinder’s series for the American market on DVD and Blu-ray in October 2018.

This will be a fantastic release!! Hopefully they will put the new documentary Christian Braad Thomsen’s Fassbinder: To Love without Demands on there as an extra!!!

I would love a Criterion release of Matewan. Sadly, Lionsgate holds the rights and I am told they hate fun.

The DVD looks really bad on an HD setup. Close to VHS quality. It will really suck if that film doesn't get a BD release, but sadly it likely won't.

You know it's bad when Echo Bridge put out Blu-rays for tons of those Miramax titles (including Pokémon FFS), but when Lionsgate got the rights to that catalogue they discontinued all those Blu-rays and only released DVDs. They could have simply continued pressing all of those titles, but they didn't.

If they won't even take the easiest option for titles already on disc in HD, why should we expect them to create new transfers for titles already on DVD?

They literally hate money, it's as simple as that.
