Have you not ever frequented Criterion's website to look at their films? If not, do yourself a favor and check it out. Heck, it even tells you which titles are out of print now.

Criterion DVD Listing (Films in the main collection with a spine #)

Criterion blu-ray listing

Criterion Eclipse DVD Sets

Criterion DVD Collector Sets

Essential Art House DVDs (Cheaper releases of popular titles, minus the bonus features... some titles not even in the main collection)

"Other" DVDs (Janus Film releases, Merchant Ivory)
I am actually impressed by the lack of sarcasm in this post. Great job! (Doesn't it feel good to help?)

BTW, I was just on B&N's website and Seven Samurai is $31. If you use that 15% coupon, it takes it down to $26.34 and free shipping. If you cannot wait for the B&N sale, this is a great deal.

Not to mention purchasing it from the Military BN store and getting more discounted.

I don't think the coupons stack though. I tried it from the library and military store and then putting in the 15% coupon and it wouldn't allow it. I think when the sale comes, they are going to squash the coupon stacking like they did after the 1st day of the sale online.

That's a very good price and free shipping too. This seller I've purchased from before and seem reliable.

I just called my local store and it is official that their Criterion sale will start Nov 2. So Seven Samurai being $49.95, with 50% off and 10% member discount it will be $22.48 before tax and I will use a $5 off coupon, so will be $17.48 before tax. Best to wait (for me at least).

I agree, but you know that it will be the hottest title in the sale. They will be OOS at most stores and online will be sold out quickly. Sometimes, on the website, you cannot even order a title if it is OOS. Then the sale means nothing. For the people that want to see it now, it's a pretty good deal, especially for non-members. The sale will be great for me to finally pick up the Cassavetes box set, since I missed it the last time. It was sold out very quickly, as many of the titles will be. Ordering that first day is key. The last sale, you were able to order at night the day before, as the prices went live. You could also use the 10% extra coupon, which may not be the case this time.

They're doing it in the stores as well...I wasn't able to use a 15% coup and a $5.00 coup when I bought Darjeeling Limited...manager wasn't able to override.

Thanks, I decided to bite, ended up being $28.22, cost me a couple extra bucks over what it would cost at B&N but I'll get it sooner this way (theoretically) and I won't have to worry about them being sold out, etc.

Not worried as the store can do a ship to home for free if you are a member.
I did that on one title during the last sale.

Save $10 if you can wait less than 2 weeks.

If you are a non-member, you will save $4 though. How can they sell you a title if it is sold out online? If the sale lasts the typical 2 weeks (till the 16th). We should be able to pre-order; Antichrist, Modern Times and Night of the Hunter for 50% off. Sorry, but the BBS set will probably not be part of it, which sucks because it would be a nice savings over list.

During the last sale the item I ordered was Night Train to Munich. It was sold out online too (back ordered) but they put the order in and I got it delivered to my home about 2 weeks later.

**Plus you can try calling the store the day before and see if they can hold it for you for 24 hrs.**

But for us lazy people, online is the way to go. Their website will not allow you to put in a backorder, which is strange, because most sites do. That cancels the sale for certain titles if you don't get in quick enough.

I'll certainly be calling B&N before the sale and having them hold a batch of movies for me. My store didn't even bother to hang signs or advertise the sale a few months ago, thus I was alone in my Criterion shopping spree. Maybe there's not too many art-film lovers here in the deep south.

Scheduled to Ship email I received...

Product Description Quantity Expected Ship Date Price
Seven Samurai 1 10-25-2010 $0.00

Sub Total: $0.00
Shipping & Processing: FREE

Tax: $1.88
Total Shipment Price: $1.88

If I actually do receive the Blu-ray and am only charged $1.88, am I a bad person for not letting them know?

For someone where the nearest B&N is 45 minutes away and doesn't get there too often, would it be worth it to shell out the $25 for the membership now for the sole purpose of using it for this sale?
