Anyway, I think I've sold off most of my Region B's at this point, ya not for a penny as I exaggerated, but definitely way less than I bought them for. And most of them came out on Region A eventually. Maybe not all, but my to buy list for Region A is so long still, that even thinking of spending on Region 2 is not in my wheelpark anymore, unless there was a film that I was really, really dying for and only on Region 2. So far, there is not one that I can see. Sorry.

But I love hearing about multi-region fans and hearing about what else is coming out elsewhere and not here. It's all good. I wish every movie was available everywhere in HD. That would be incredible.
The way I look at it is if someone takes time out of their day to post here, they are probably contributing to this home video industry we all love so much. So I really don't ever get bluray.com beef with anyone. And in all honesty, isn't it technically better for the market if we support these region A releases, like you do, in bigger droves as opposed to opting for region B. Not to open a big can of worms but as someone that lives in the US, supporting Criterion, Kino, Cohen, etc. with more of my direct dollars seems to be more in my best interest than buying BFI, Eureka, Carlotta, Koch, etc.

Yes indeed. How is it that we can get several good releases of Sisters, but none for De Palma's magnum opus, Femme Fatale. It's a sin that film is not on blu.

Got a nice little 130.00 player and it plays every DVD or blu ray on Earth. Every CD. Has a USB flash port, came loaded with all kinds of apps for Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, etc. . Plays EVERYTHING.

I have built a massive Region B collection to go along with my already massive R A and Region Free collection. And many of the B's I've bought still aren't out in Region A. I've picked up a ton of Eureka/Masters of Cinema titles, BFI, Indicator, Arrow, etc., as well as many German releases and a few French releases and so on. Some examples include, "The Shohei Imamura Collection" box set, the BFI "The Devils" DVD, The BFI Pasolini and Derek Jarman box sets, "The Crying Game", several Masters of Cinema Pasolini titles, "Onibaba", UK Network releases of "The Nightcomers" and "Bad Timing", a French release of Abel Ferrara's "China Girl", some UK-only Arrow titles, the Reg.B locked Indicator releases of "Blue Collar", "The Border", and "Charley Varrick", the German release of "Smoke". Many, many other things, too, that have yet to see the light of day in Region A.
Yes, I too now have a shelf full of BFI, Artificial Eye, Eureka. Even some stuff that appears will remain only Region B DVD for a while like the Angeloupolous collection. Indicator, too, is becoming quite the player, and truth be told, they are upstaging most everyone this year. Criterion included. I finally got my hands on the Budd Boetticher set and Housekeeping; and I have a ton of their titles in my list to buy in the near future (such as Blue Collar, The Passenger, and many more). I haven't watched any of the Budd films, but if they are half as good as Ride Lonesome (which I can't wait to see in HD again!), that set should be an easy release of the year contender for me.

To iamnoone's point, I can definitely see someone putting out those Boetticher films on Region A bluray, but I am way too impatient for that.

Sisters upgrade for me, definitely. No idea who has the rights but I'd like to see Criterion release Celine and Julie Go Boating. That movie doesn't even have a US DVD release.

I will definitely get this one myself but I might have to wait for a sale.
I’m down for that and sisters may be the ,next BN 1/2 off sale

Any feedback Would be appreciated
Both The Naked Prey and Surviving the Game are more or less reworkings of Richard Connell's famous short story The Most Dangerous Game, itself adapted in 1932; Run for the Sun, Hard Target, and Apocalypto are just several others.

The Naked Prey is easily the most visceral and stripped-to-the-bone though; it's Wilde's crowning achievement as an actor/director.

No interest in any of the October titles. Not many titles in 2018 that I'm interested in for that matter.

You forgot about the best of the lot, "The Pest" with John Leguizamo.

Def gonna pick up PRINCESS BRIDE and SHAMPOO.

I'll grab NAKED PREY.

Maaaaaybe I'll get the SISTERS upgrade. Knowing me, I will.

If I didn't see EIGHT HOURS during its theatre run, it would be a must. I'd like to revisit somewhere down the line, but since I just saw it a couple months back I don't know if I have a pressing urge to get it now. But I may. And probably will eventually.

It's been awhile since I've seen it and I'm thinking about snagging it during Prime Day.
I don't see why a film that's less than ten years old would need to be restored.

Most movies OVER 10 years old don’t need to be “restored,” either, but that word is thrown around as carelessly as DNR these days. A new scan and color/cleanup is not a restoration.

There's a word for cleaning-up damage and color correcting a movie to look like how it originally premiered in theaters.
Here's a hint: it's starts with the letter "R."

Is The Princess Bride Criterion's first digibook? I had to do a double, then a triple take.

The Naked Prey is mostly based on the story of John Colter and what became known as Colter's Run. The actual events occurred in the American west in the early 1800s. For financial reasons, Wilde chose to set the story in Africa. Colter's run also inspired similar scenes in the movies Run of the Arrow and The Mountain Men. All movies feature white men being pursued by indigenous warriors.

Incidentally, there is a new movie in the works based on Colter's legendary run. I'm not sure how far along they are, but they have a website.

I can't get a good look at the book in the film. Did they actually try to use the physical book Peter Falk is reading as visual inspiration? I can't make out the color.

I'm aware of the history behind John Colter and the fact that they used it as inspiration for The Naked Prey; in addition to the films you mentioned, there's also a scene in Across the Wide Missouri in which Gable's pursuit by Native Americans recalls Colter.

That doesn't change the fact that The Naked Prey is a variation on themes found in The Most Dangerous Game.

I'm very excited to see a film adaptation of Colter's Run in the works; thanks for cluing me in.

Or you could say that The Most Dangerous Game is a variation of themes found in Colter's Run.

As for the "upcoming" movie, the site lists a 2018 release date, which would be surprising since they don't mention a director or any cast members. Looks like it's still "in development."
