I blind-rented Valerie a couple weeks ago and immediately ordered it on the B&N sale. It's pretty remarkable. The alternate score is really cool too.

For me, it was able to do what Color of Pomegrantes couldn't by delivering an other-worldly / non-linear vibe with feeling like it was trying to hard to be weird.

Awesome. That's exactly what I'm hoping they'd be.

Signs were pointing to a remaster rerelease sometime soon.

If Criterion releases a remaster, there'd better be a 4K disc included.

Sometimes works are all about the visuals. Visuals are substance you know.

I've never taken drugs before, but Black Moon makes me feel as though I did.

I watched the old Criterion DVD years ago, and upgraded it to Blu-ray during a sale a couple of years back, but I haven't had the guts to revisit the movie yet.

I love Valerie... (It has surrealism but also a suffused emotional feel and fabulous music to boot) but wasn't too taken up by Black Moon, couldn't care for the characters at all.

There is only one release of Salo, and the slipbox is part of the packaging, so you will get it.

Are you okay with onscreen male nudity and scenes of erotically charged nude male wrestling?

I too blind bought this the other week. I was intrigued to see it as parts of it were shot in a park next to where I work and according to my parents my great uncle had a part as an extra.

It's arguably Ken Russell's finest film and a really interesting adaptation of D. H. Lawrence's novel. All of the four major stars are very good in this, with Oliver Reed giving probably giving one of the best performances of his life. The film is beautifully shot and edited.

A study of both early 20th Century class conditions in a coal mining area of Britain and a treatise on the ever continuing sexual conflict and manipulations between men and women. Some very powerful scenes with some pretty shocking and cynical images that still have a visceral affect on me despite having viewed the film multiple times.

If any of that sparks your interest, then... yes, in my opinion, this is a very good blind buy.
