He's been trying to get them to release -- actually re-release, since they did the director's cut on laserdisc -- "Texasville" for years. There is an HD version of the film, but it's the theatrical cut (likely for the obvious reasons), so I think it's unfortunately a lost cause.

I believe Bogdanovich owns "They All Laughed" outright; the reason that he went bankrupt in the 1980's was that he bought the film back after the original distributor wasn't going to release it and distributed it himself.
This summer, UCLA's Billy Wilder Theater in Westwood had two programs running; one was a series of Ernst Lubitsch films, the other was a series of Bob Fosse films. Before each show, they would run silent still-photograph ads of all of the upcoming shows. Bogdanovich came out to watch "So This Is Paris", and sitting in the crowd, every time the ad for "Star 80" came up, I felt more and more awkward about it. |
