Listening to Sissy Spacek on Marc Maron's podcast so i finally pulled the trigger on 3 Women (love Altman, total blind buy) and Badlands. Also got Shampoo...

Almost went with Smithereens and Complete Monterey Pop...probably save those for B&N, along with Sisters and Princess Bride.

I’m not a huge fan of Malick but “Badlands” is an amazing crime film; one of my favorites. It was the second Criterion I bought after I got more serious into Blu collecting.

So happy to have had a chance to pick up these titles during the sale ... and I garnered a $50 loyalty coupon with this order that I'll be able to redeem in February:

...any thoughts?
Let us know what you decide, Ray. We're all waiting with bated breath.

I think on the Sisters thread you said you were not a fan of stuff like Dressed to Kill or Blow-Up, in which case I would not recommend a blind buy of Sisters as it's not as good as those other ones.

I watched it for the first time earlier in the year when I did a free trial for FilmStruck. I liked it a lot, but at the time was glad i didn't blind buy it...then I heard Spacek talking about Malick and Sheen and the movie as a whole and went "well...isn't this the perfect day to finally just buy it!" haha..it stuck with me and now I can't wait to watch it again.

After listening, I also wanna re-watch Carrie and Phantom of the Paradise (which she assisted her husband in set decorating and had a funny, yet slightly disastrous story about her and De Palma haha). She's a gem. I really love her.

A Christmas Tale, Summer Hours, Cold Water! Went for a French talkie theme! Will probably go for a second round soon.

For current flash sale

Already have lots of earlier titles so my selection was limited for this sale.

Judging by what users are posting in the deals thread, lots of people are buying My Man Godfrey and Andrei Rublev.

Is tree of life a smart blind buy if I like the other Malick films I’ve seen?

I had my cart all full and ready to go and then noticed that I was $13 away from a $50 coupon, so I added "Sweet Smell of Success" (a blind buy that a friend has been pushing me to watch). I was going to get the Wallace Shawn / Andre Gregory box with my coupon, but I realized that it was just under the free-shipping threshold, so I went with the Cassavetes box instead.

“Sweet Smell of Success” is a great little gem. One of Criterion’s best MGM B&W remasters. Burt Lancaster plays a fantastic dispicible, obsessive, columnist.

Great picks though. I love My Man Godfrey and Ride the Pink Horse is a terrific and unique noir gem.

The Tree of Life
A Matter of Life and Death
Andrei Rublev
Carnival of Souls
(upgrade from DVD)

Again, my eyes were bigger than my stomach (wallet) and had to cut the original list in half.
Oh well, there's always B&N next month and another flash sale from Criterion in February if I'm not mistaken.

Time to save up those loonies and toonies ; )

Perfect timing with Shampoo release. I still wish it was next week when Sisters released, but can't complain. Got to use my $50 rewards credit too. My Man Godfrey as well. Thank you Criterion!

I also just got a $10 criterion gift certificate from Filmstruck, which made it just under $50. So hooray for that.
Did you still get free shipping even though your total was under $50?
