So do I...it makes me remember my first experience at July's sale, asking the kind lady to hold 12 or so CCs. I am tempted to list them right here and now, but I am now scared that nobody will read it. THANKS CG!!!

I really think that those of us who post our purchases, and also read every post as they appear (at one time or another in our busy lives), read those posts that highlight the poster's purchases. Does that even make sense??

I embrace the fact that people can come into a forum, a social gathering of the minds (since our bodies cannot be present), and participate in a discussion of all aspects of the suggested topic. In this case, that topic is Criterion. So, whether you have some noteworthy news, you just bought a new title, or you want to be rude to your fellow posters as it pertains to the Criterion Collection, I say have at it!

I give these people credit for coming here and attempting to start a discussion, whether in the form of a repeated question, which, if you think about it, are only repeated 10-50 pages apart in an 900+ page forum...kinda hard to sift through (think of how often we read these posts, and how often they do), a bit of news, or a proud moment in their lives where they just saved a bunch of money purchasing something great...remember those Geico commercials?? They were proud of saving their 15%, and they were not looked down upon for sharing the news. Why should we?

I mean, how many pages were wasted on bickering in the first place? While I do think they are effin' hilarious, they probably take up more space than the happy posts for people who saved a bunch of money shopping at B&N.

I loathe when I cannot find a post by someone that has valuable information for me and I spend an hour trying to find it again.

No kidding! Skimming through the pages today I've seen a lot more complaint posts than posts about what someone bought at B&N. Also, the posts from people who post what they bought (yojimbo/sanjuro, seven samurai, and charade for $67) are usually much shorter than those who complain about the posts and feel the need to give a detailed numbered reasoning as to why they are so upset.

So I guess it's just a matter of preference as to whether a bunch of people posting "once" what they purchased is more annoying than one person posting "several" times that they are annoyed at this?

How's The Leopard? Would anyone recommend it for a blind buy?

I'm struggling if I want to upgrade "Breathless" and "Charade" on Blu-ray, I could use that $36 and get "Close-Up" and "Magician" instead. Hmm...
FYI kndy...the "3 Silents" is showing up as 50% off on their website...

http://video.barnesandnoble.com/DVD/...+von+sternberg

It's showing as "out of stock" at my local store, but I've ordered it to be delievered to the store. It should still be $39.99...

I think it's a decent film, but I wouldn't recommend it as a blind buy, but then again there are few criterions (even fewer available on blu ray) that I would recommend as blind buys.

I skim through them, but really, there is a separate thread for this kind of thing. No need to clutter up this one.

2. WE ALL KNOW ABOUT THE SALE.

3. Most people already owns what people is getting, so are they suppose to clap for you?

4. No one actually reads other's hauls. They just want to post theres so people will read it. Yet, no one reads others, which just has pages of lists that no one REALLY cares about.

5. Someone made a thread for these posts.

6. And for the new to B&N/Criterion forum, you might be new to me, but you can call me CG. IF you ever see me and CCfixx together, run!
CG, correct me if I'm wrong, but I think what you're trying to say is that you would like one nice collective place to read all the titles that people are picking up during the sale, correct? I understand your pain. I, too, find it difficult jumping back and forth from the Sales thread to this thread and back again just to keep up with everyone's "haul," as they like to call it. An added bonus, though, is when we get the same post from the same user in both threads!!! That's almost like a "goocher" in Stand By Me. On top of all of that, I'm then going to skip on over to the DVDTalk forums so I can read up on what everyone has bought over there. Alas, the people over there seem to only be posting in the relevant Sales thread.

However, someone had mean things to say to me over at DVDTalk, and that just upset me the most. Please read and enjoy.

USER: Speaking of which, what's the email address for the person I need to contact regarding replacement packaging? My Breathless and Brakhage digipaks got bent like a mother****er in the mail.

Digipaks

ME: I'm sure you're just ranting about your dislike for cardboard packaging, but if your statement is true about the damaged packaging then I'm pretty sure you should be contacting the company that sent you the discs for replacements. If you happened to buy directly from Criterion, then you can get in touch with their customer service or the Jon Mulvaney e-mail. Either one can easily be found on Criterion's site in the Help section.

USER: Your suggestion that I'm lying about the condition of my packaging simply because I don't like the design is as idiotic as it is hilarious. You might be able to get away with that holier-than-thou cyber-bullying horseshit on blu-ray.com, but that dog aint gonna hunt 'round these parts. I bought the discs on ebay and the seller is unable to send replacements. But thanks for actually answering my question, albeit in your own incredibly obnoxious way.

I must be missing something, because I've read this thread since the beginning and well over 50% of the posts are people talking about what movies they just bought are what movies they are planning to buy. Not sure what difference it makes if they buy it during a sale! Specific details about the sale, coupons, etc. yeah should be discussed in the separate thread, but I don't see what's the big deal about talking about the actual movies.

Go back and take a look at the 1st page of this thread. Most of it is people talking about movies they just bought (and can't wait til they arrive) or talking about movies they plan on buying in the future. So what exactly is the difference here?

I think it's really good. It was a blind buy for me. Why not? It's a classic film. Depends on what your criteria are for blind buys, I suppose. And the kind of film you like. It is the kind of film I like. Glad I have it. Will be even more glad when I get around to watching the blu-ray version, because it will look and sound even better.

Does anyone know if they are still selling the CC of The last Emperor in the digipack cardboard case?

I haven't personally seen anything other than that in the stores, nor have I heard of anyone online receiving a copy in the plastic cases. So, as far as I know, the cardboard cases for that title are still abundent.

Do what you want. There is another thread devoted to posting whatever you want about the current B&N sale. Why not be nice and use that one so people who don't want to skim through 100 pages of such posts here won't have to. It's called consideration.

I wasn't making any posts about the B&N sale, I was wondering what's the difference between a post like this: (a sample from the 1st page of this thread)
I double dipped on The Last Emperor and will probably get In the Realm of the Sense.

and a post like this:
I bought 3 criterions at B&N today for $50!

If all you're interested in is "official criterion news", I believe it gets posted onto their website in a timely manner. I've never considered that what this thread was about though, since (IMO) nearly 70%-80% of the posts are just talking about movies people recently bought or are planning to!

It's called TFB. Someone only made that thread a few days ago because they didn't want clutter. Not that he is the only one, but not everyone wants to go read two seperate threads. It's hard enough keeping up with this behemoth. Now there's another? And we've just wasted another page.

Yes, all of those people are idiots... including me.

The thing is we're all guilty of it, but we hate ourselves after the fact.

For the previous three B&N sales, the same thing always happens. This thread gets really cluttered with everyone's list of movies that they bought. I did it once, I think, just to be obnoxious. Then, if people are making multiple trips over the course of the sale there's gonna be a post for each list of movies that was obtained on each trip. Then, after the whole sale is over, the same people will post the all-encompassing cumulative list that will wrap up all of their previous posts into one nice "end of the sale" post just in case we had forgotten what movies they were able to get during the sale. Then, we never see or hear from those people again in this thread. That's the problem. The least they could do is stick around and discuss all of these films after they've viewed them... if they ever do watch them.
