The films I posted about are both an hour long features. I envision an Eclipse set with those hour long features, which probably couldn't be standalone sets. Either way I would really more Harold Lloyd to be released.
There’s no way either For Heaven’s Sake or Grandma’s Boy are released by Eclipse, those are major Harold Lloyd films. Shorter features like Hot Water will probably paired up with other films.

Another way to look at it: Has Criterion ever teased a Chaplin release? I don't recall any of the films being included in a New Year's drawing or monthly newsletter clue.

Possibly Shell, as my memory will not serve me correctly. Still doesn't make me wonder what they did with those unreleased films. Maybe something happened no one but the privileged knows about. At least the Lloyd's are still trickling out.

There’s a lot of discussion in our group that the sled could be Citizen Kane (or Citizen Cane) as spine 1000. It could be a double clue with Bamboozled, but I’m convinced it is for Kane and would put Spike Lee’s joint in the maybe column.

Limelight was a newsletter clue.

I'd put Kogonada's Columbus into the definite category. It was a pretty sure bet before this clue, and I think 19 stars (for Indiana) only confirms it

I think it's very unlikely to be Citizen Kane but not impossible. Warner, by now, will have wrung all they can out of Citizen Kane sales. It might be worth it to them to make some incremental revenue licensing the movie and Criterion is the obvious choice. There isn't a lot Criterion can do to improve on what Warner has already released but Kane is among the most important films and I'm sure they would love to have it in the collection (plus an opportunity to resurrect a laserdisc). Another benefit to licensing the movie to Criterion specifically is that we know Criterion movies will not be exclusive to The Criterion Channel streaming service, they will also appear on AT&T/Warner's streaming service as well.

The other option for Warner is a UHD release for the next anniversary in 2021 but it's unclear how much Citizen Kane would benefit from UHD (the original negatives were lost in a fire) and there hasn't exactly been a downpour of classic films released on UHD. Perhaps the studios don't percieve a significant enough market for that sort of thing.

The clue is likely for Bamboozled, and I doubt it's a double clue, but I don't think it's impossible Criterion could one day license Citizen Kane from Warner. We're in the twilight years of physical media and studios are becoming less and less hesitant to license big name titles to boutique labels.

I feel like the sled would have been drawn differently if it was for Citizen Kane. It looks nothing like Rosebud!

It doesn’t, but it could be made out of candy or sugar cane. I just saw a pretty good argument for it at CriterionForum, essentially that any sled is going to lead cinephiles to Kane and they don’t tend to put out red herrings with their clues.

They have also been on a mission to get LDs back and Kane was spine 1. I think they’ll open up the vault and put a lot of resources into making it a special release around November 2019.

Could the men with the babies be a dual clue for Bringing Up Baby as well?

I guess. If they do release it would be cool if it was their first 4K!

Likely. The man on the left resembles Cary Grant's character, particularly with the glasses and hair. It just happened to be on TCM today.

It's very clearly meant to be bamboo. The leaves attached are exactly like Bamboo leaves, not like the leaves found on a sugar cane. The sticks appear to be hollow, just like bamboo. Sugar cane doesn't get hollowed out like that. It can't be a double clue because it can't be bamboo and sugar cane, so to me, it has to be for Bamboozled.

And come on guys Bamboo Sled being Bamboozled is exactly the kind of clever clues Criterion is known for. A sugar cane sled isn't that clever.

At this point, the men holding the babies have been suggested as a possible quadruple, if not more, clue. One guy looks like Harold Lloyd. The other like Cary Grant. The Euro signs and dads so then it's Europa Europa. But they're two men with kids so then maybe Children of Men. One is singing and the other isn't so then it's One Sings, the Other Doesn't.

It literally cannot be all of them, haha. One Sings, the Other Doesn't and Europa Europa seem 100% the most likely (especially since the former is already a known Janus title).

I'd lean towards no (good catch, I didn't even see the 8) it's probably just what ties the rope to the swing. The "8" meaning anything would, imo, be reading into it a bit too much. May very well have been unintentional to have it look like an 8.

My only thought would be if it tied into Swing Time and hinted at a possible box-set of eight Astaire-Rogers films. They made 10 together, so I guess it's technically possible but I wouldn't bet on it either.

Per my Letterboxd diary, here's the Lloyd shorts I watched on TCM, June 26th:

The Marathon (1919)
Just Neighbors (1919)
Captain Kidd's Kids (1919)
Billy Blazes, Esq. (1919)
Take a Chance (1918)
Look Pleasant, Please (1918)
By the Sad Sea Waves (1917)
The Big Idea (1917)
Bashful (1917)

I know that they showed at least a few more shorts, but they didn't get recorded. Whenever there's a storm, a very light rain, or somebody in the general vicinity of my satellite dish farts, DirecTV loses its signal.

For the record, I would fully endorse Criterion doing a Lloyd shorts collection. These were a lot of fun, and I'd gladly buy them to watch over and over. Sometimes I don't have a full two hours to watch a feature length film. A couple of these are just what the doctor ordered. Release a nice box set, Criterion, and then put 'em up on your new streaming service. Win-win for the physical media guys like me, and the streamers. More Harold Lloyd being available for the masses is a good thing.

SIXTEEN CANDLES was a clue in the New Year's Day 2017 drawing, so it's looong overdue; still, hope springs eternal as I'm still awaiting Cimino's THE DEER HUNTER based on the clue of the deer behind the bush in the 2014 drawing...or did that turn out to be a clue for another title altogether?
