Lastly, I’m going to re-watch The Philadelphia Story On Criterion blu-Ray, as well as Only Angels Have Wings, and check out An Affair to Remember, To Catch a Thief and Suspicion from my collection.

If all goes well, that should take me to the beginning of next week.
Holiday is one of the purest delights of my movie-watching life. It has a digital restoration premiering at this year's TCM festival, so it has officially become my most-anticipated likely Criterion release.

That's a great line-up. You can never watch too much Cary Grant. I just watched North By Northwest over the weekend, I never tire of it. So hilarious in parts. I also just added The Philadelphia Story Criterion recently. Looking forward to seeing it on bluray. I've been pondering picking up Only Angels have Wings on Criterion too. And I love Myrna Loy! I have the old Thin Man box set, so good!

Love your Ingrid avatar btw, she's another favorite of mine. I've watched the Criterion bluray Ingrid in Her Own Words more than a few times now, it's wonderful. Can't wait for the Criterion Notorious release next week. Ingrid+Cary (and Rains too!) is perfection. Enjoy your Cary Grant movie fest.

And, by the way, thank you. It’s just a quick overall impression of the film. I’ll go back and re-watch both The Awful Truth and His Girl Friday once I get the blu-rays during the Flash Sale, and then do a series of reviews of Cary’s films. I’m still very much in the “absorb and learn” phase of my journey, all the while trying to find my voice as a writer.

/tip of the cap.

This next sale is going to drain my pocketbook a bit. I want Notorious, as well, and I’m inclined to get the Eclipse set of Ingrid’s work in Sweden.

And I would happily plop down my credit card if Criterion released the Thin Man series on blu-Ray. Bill and Myrna could do no wrong, in my eyes. Of the fourteen films they appeared in together, I’ve yet to see Double Wedding (on my DVR), Love Crazy, and The Senator Was Indiscreet. And Libeled Lady is at the top of my want list.

I have had my eye on the Eclipse set for awhile now too, I wish it was on bluray, but oh well. I would also love a bluray of The Thin Man set, for now I'm happy to have my DVD set. I've yet to see some of the Bill and Myrna ones you listed, definitely on my to watch list as well!

I'm owed a Bluray from the Indiegogo campaign, so if it is Criterion putting it out, all the better.

I regularly ask for them to do Satoshi Kon, Jan Svankmajer, Katsuhiro Otomo.

I was hoping for The Adventures of Prince Achmed too... but that was already released on blu ray a few months ago.........without the making of documentary from the original DVD

I hate to admit it, but I just got around to watching "Brief Encounter" for the first time. One of those classics that I just hadn't watched yet. What a towering achievement that film is. So simple, so beautifully shot, so incredibly elegant. It's a sad film in many ways, but it's alternately hopeful in how it presents the main characters being freed from self-imposed constraints, although they can't immediately follow through in the present. And, with a love that clear and immediate, it's doubtful they would be able to permanently resist the temptation the reunite. It's a complete masterpiece IMO.

Lean is normally known for his epic period (and his output there speaks for itself) but he made some incredible films in the 40s too. Brief Encoutner is the best from the amazing period but his two Dickens adaptations are also great films (and badly need new restored blu rays).

And I'd love to have a nice disc of Summertime in its proper widescreen aspect ratio.

... and 4K!

The wide-eyed stare of Celia Johnson is as plunging of an insight into the heart as any. One of the most heartrending depictions of unrequited love to ever grace the screen.

My favorite Lean.

Brief Encounter is my favorite Lean film, perhaps even by a wide margin.

Same here, but even if Criterion do release it I wonder if we're just going to get a barebones Blu-Ray like the awards screeners...
