Most likely just how much they liked or disliked it, but if it leads to a release that would be amazing!

Don’t think Netflix would allow that.

I think the restoration part was for Blue Velvet. Janus is screening the Police Story movies in theaters right now.

I love Blue Velvet and you’re damn right I’m gonna buy it, but it’s a shame that it isn’t Lost Highway, Elephant Man, or even Inland Empire...something that doesn’t already have a pretty solid US release. Like I said, I’m totally buying it, but it’s just a tad frustrating. I guess they can port over the existing extras and throw in a new interview or 2, similar to FWWM, but with a new restoration. Or maybe a box set is coming? Doubt it though.

Also, I know it's a long shot, but I wonder if that post is implying that Criterion will be releasing Roma.

I would LOVE Inland Empire, but I don't know how many others would. Maybe that was their concern?

The producers of The Other Side of the Wind have said Netflix gave them pretty much carte blanche for home video releases, and that it's possible Criterion could release it. So if that's true, knowing that, similarly, Roma wasn't produced by Netflix, but bought at a festival, physical media rights could have been negotiated separately. Add the fact that Cuaron seems to have had a significant hand in the theatrical rollout, so if he wants a media release, it certainly seems plausible.

Yeah I'm with you here; would've like to have Lost Highway instead. I didn't buy their FWWM cause I already have the blu-ray series set.

I'd probably buy a blu of Roma cause I'd like to see it but I don't have streaming. Would be ironic though since Netflix seems to have stopped getting new Criterion blu-rays for their disc service now.

Blue Velvet getting a new transfer is kickass tbh. IIRC the deleted scenes are a newer transfer than what's on MGM's disc which is apparently an ancient but still nice looking master.

Anyhoo says Blue Velvet AND Lost Highway aren't coming? Dumbland has a phantom page; it's been being included with international Lost Highway releases. That's a sign imo. Another thing to think about; The Elephant Man screened at Lynch's festival last year. There was no mention of it being a new master but I've been wondering about that ever since.

The guy who announced the release of Blue Velvet just said that it was "very likely" that Criterion was going to release 'Roma'.

I tried to watch it. I really did. This coming from huge fan of Eraserhead, Blue Velvet and Wild At Heart. I dug the rabbits, I endured the tea drinking scene with the crazy neighbor lady but when
[Show spoiler]Laura Dern started playing hide and seek with her doppelganger
I just couldn't take it anymore....

Interesting. Netflix wouldn’t allow physical releases of Mike Flanagan’s films despite him wanting them.

Honestly, I'd see that more of a Shout release if anything or Uni surprise with an UHD.
