Lots of problems with the My Collection that I’ve discovered while trying to update my collection.

- Can’t add titles to collection or wishlist except on individual title pages

- Wish list cannot be sorted

- if you have an old edition of a title, it shows the artwork for the new edition (this was particularly confusing in regards to owning the old Blu-ray of The Complete Monterey Pop festival and trying to add the new edition to my wishlist)

- if you previously added the DVD version of a title in your wish list and that title has now been upgraded to Blu-ray, it wasn’t letting me add the Blu-ray edition until I removed the DVD. It is ossicle that it was and I couldn’t find it in the wishlist due to another issue as follows: if you add a title to your wishlist, the page loads to the wishlist with your newly added title. If you previously added the dvd version and are trying to add the Blu-ray to your wishlist, the page doesn’t load to the wishlist. You have to navigate to the wishlist and scroll to see if it added.

That is RIDICULOUS!

BECAUSE...

I literally just removed my signature for the first time in 7 years yesterday because the "My Collection" part of Criterion.com was still deactivated! And my signature had the link to "My Criterion Collection"! So if I had waited 1 MORE DAY, I wouldn't have had to do that... so now I'm going to go back in and add it back.

Still.... I just cannot believe it.

Also, I don't think I could have a minimalist collection as I love having the ability to grab a certain film and be able to watch it any time I want. I think of it I have my own movie store which I can watch whatever I want and at any time. Plus between Criterion, Kino, Eureka, Arrow, Warner Archive Collection, TT, and many other great labels there is not a better time IMO to be a movie fan. I mean I won't begrudge anyone who wants to have a minimalist collection but its not for me.

Alright. It's the last day of February. Do we think we'll see the Criterion Flash sale today?

I doubt it. I bet that it's being moved to March.

This guy is my hero. I think here at BluRay dot com we would have to create a whole new level for him like BluRay Supreme Leader.

If I had to guess the sale will either be next Tuesday or the 12th. With the Bergman set back in print, its odd they didnt have it this week.

Why, for having shelves and shelves of DVDs and laserdiscs, and blu-rays like Drinking Buddies and Burlesque? There's a lot of stuff on those shelves, but I'm not all that impressed.

I was actually looking for a different collection video where someone had everything in like these expensive custom rotating shelves or something. It was pretty cool, and looked minimalistic too.

that is rather stupid to have so many for what seems like collecting for the sake of it and not buying favorites or enjoyable movies for repeat viewing. I've had to pair down stuff because I don't watch them any more.

I was so moved that I was almost unable to get out of my seat in the theater once the film was over. I haven't had a film do that to me in a long time. Everything about this film is breathtaking, from the direction and cinematography, to the production design, the soundtrack, the story surrounding the fate of Taiwan after WWII, and the acting(especially Tony Leung Chiu-Wai's portrayal of the youngest brother who is deaf). The only releases currently available of the film are dvds from Japan and Thailand. I have no clue who owns the rights to A City of Sadness but this film just screams for a Criterion release and deserves to be more widely known and seen.

Criterion, please allow Hou Hsiao-Hsien to join the Criterion Collection, starting with A City of Sadness.

The main theme to the film is timeless.

This was so ahead of it's time. If it were released in today's climate (even as a Netflix film), it would have eaten cheap transcendental rip-offs like Roma for lunch. It also sort of overshadowed Hou Hsiao-Hsien's career, he made so many great little films after but nothing came ever close to the level of cinematic mastery he achieved in A City of Sadness.

It is also widely thought to be the last really great film to win the Golden Lion. Since the 1980s (after 10 years of no prizes being awarded) the prize had sort of fallen behind both the Golden Bear and the Palme d'Or when it came to picking out films that stood the test of time. Pity since in the 1950s and 60s it was the gold standard for world cinema, bringing the likes of Kurosawa, Dreyer, Satyajit Ray, Tarkovsky, Pontecorvo, Rossellini, Alain Resnais and to a lesser extent Buñuel, Antonioni, Visconti, Inagaki and Rene Clement to the limelight.

I was totally rooting for it be "the" film of 2018, and was massively let down.

And that latter had nothing to do with the fact that it is thought of as a "Netflix" film or anything like that. I just strongly felt that it's attempt to marry the transcendental styles of Ozu, Bresson and Tarkovsky with the scale of the Hollywood epic was a complete blunder in terms of execution. And the pretentiously bad camerawork with all those unmotivated pans just to remind the viewer the presence of a camera in literally every minute of the film just annoyed the hell out of me.

I didn't really pay attention to the shelves. Nope, I'm not impressed now that you mentioned those were some of the titles.
