Has anyone heard anything about UNTIL THE END OF THE WORLD? There were so many murmurs and people kept talking about it, and then... crickets.

Eyes Wife Shut or Lolita. Cmon Criterion. Make me a happy man.

Criterion are always my most anticipated announcements. There’s just so much excitement around it.

I'm pretty sure I've only seen two of his films, but Tampopo is one of my favorites in the CC, and The Funeral would make a fantastic addition. I need to dig into some more of his stuff.

"Eyes Wife Shut" would have been a good alternate title in retrospect.

Tomorrow - it’s always on the 15th (if the 15th falls on a weekday)

A caveat being if the 15th falls on a Friday, they usually (but not always) push announcements to the following Monday.

Nothing. I remember seeing what was obviously a restored version on TCM 3 or 4 years ago with the Janus logo and everything, but it's been mostly crickets for Wim Wenders in general since the Road Trilogy was released.

For fans of Red River, Howard Hawks' The Big Sky is on your streaming service if you have TCM and something similar to Sling where you can playback anything that aired in the last week. I'm guessing Saturday is the last day to stream this film, so get to it because it's hard to find (stream).

It's been on the top of my must watch list for years, so I was as giddy as can be when I saw that I got a second chance having missed the original airing on Saturday.

The news about The Cameraman is certainly exciting. I look forward to seeing it either later this year or sometime next. I also hope that Spite Marriage will either be released as an extra or even as its own spine number so that the silent Keaton catalog will be complete in high definition.

My predictions based completely on random guessing from the Amazing Criswell:
Swing Time
The Wedding March
Captain Blood
One of the remaining Chaplin titles
The Cameraman (might as well predict it)
Trouble in Paradise
Arsenic and Old Lace

They could easily fit The Cameraman and Spite Marriage on the same disc (combined runtime of 150 min), so it'll probably be like how they put The Lodger and Downhill together.

With Criterion's releasing of David Lynch's films, I wonder if there is any chance they could release "Hotel Room", his 1993 anthology for HBO or (a real longshot) 1992's "On The Air"? There is some precedent for them releasing TV shows, such as by Don Seigel ("The Killers") and one or two others that I can't quite remember (I'm getting old). It would be great to have those in my collection.

Yep, that's exactly what TCM did on DVD back in 2004.

Does that mean Criterion is releasing the Blu ray? They released the laserdisc, right? And why do I see predictions for Captain Blood ? Was that hinted at somewhere? Criterion releases of these 2 films would be a dream come true for me....

Mark Frost said way back when that they were looking into including "On the Air" as a bonus on the Return BD set, but it didn't pan out, I guess, since they didn't. I don't know if that means they didn't try that hard of they ran into a roadblock, though...

I'm pretty sure that they're just referring to the fact that Bergman's 'The Magic Flute' was adapted from Mozart's opera version.
