Here's a "what if" scenario for you. What if I have a choice of getting either Seven Samurai, Yojimbo/Sanjuro, or 3 Silent Classics by Josef von Sternberg...which one(s) should I get?

I'm a big silents fan, but realize the importance of the Kurosawa films.

Given the choice of just the Kurosawa sets...which one should I get?

I'll most likely get the von Sternberg silents...but given the choice of the Kurosawa sets...which one is "the better choice".

This should wake up a few people!

Someone posted a question earlier about who works at a Best Buy...

My part time job is at a Best Buy, and our CC discounts come to about 26 and change. I have not purchased any except for Che, which was actually a great deal!

To be honest, I just got home and I didn't want to go searching back god knows how many pages after today's fiasco. (The fiasco here where the last 10 pages ended up being complete nonsense!! And barely anyone posted about their purchases!!)

For those who made the "oh so funny" accounts......

1) I know who you are.

2) I will ban you.

I realize it was all in good fun..... and you kept your posts confined to just this thread........ But anymore additional accounts FROM ANYONE..... will get you some vacation time.....

Back to posting your "hauls" now
can you PM me who it was? Not going to say out loud. Was very curious. Or if the person can PM me. If not, I wouldn't know who the joke was from, which in turn, didn't work then.

This set will never get a replacement case, nor will The Leopard, Breathless or Seven Samurai. The sooner you can accept that, the sooner you can go on with your life.

Default Good sale.

I don't see why you would want more than one account. Unless you were already banned and need a new one. I ordered The Man Who Fell to Earth on ebay, hopefully it will get here this week. I'm also thinking about ordering The Red Shoes and Ride With the Devil. I sales.

Ah yes. I actually like all these new cardboard cases. They look so elegant with my collection. Much better than the first batch of blu-ray digipaks.

Yes! I want all releases in the new digipaks. I wish Vivre sa vie was a digi.

Looks like I'll be ordering Yojimbo/Sanjuro and Wages of Fear for the B&N sale. I would like to get Breathless, Paths of Glory, Modern Times, and Seven Samurai; except Sherlock Jr/Three Ages and Metropolis come out this month. Have to exercise some control before Black Friday and Christmas.

I wouldn't say I "Rely on" but I do greatly enjoy user reviews here when I'm looking at adding titles that are blind-buys, but sadly I don't post enough reviews myself, and I really should.

I disagree when people say certain reviewers we have on this site are "Bad". I find certain reviewers have greatly different tastes in films than I do, and that's fine...... It reinforces the fact that there is something for everyone out there. The good Dr.'s reviews have certainly led to many absolutely fantastic blind-buys though..... and I certainly put a lot of weight in his reviews because of that.

No, because that would ruin the pleasure I get from the "inside joke" aspect of it......

I'm going to watch "Mystery Train" again now...... everyone can let me hear all about it if I don't get off my butt and leave a user-review for it...

You never know, someone could agree with my interpretation and read more. Or it could lead to a very candid debate. I'm more for the debate, who really likes a 'yes man' anyway?

You sir know that I can and will find out.

I'll start naming suspects:

ChadFL (we joke about Spielberg and Bay)?

But really, no harm in it. I just think the jokester doesn't get credit from me if I don't know who it is.

Beta is a good person so he won't tell me. Maybe the prankster will message me tomorrow and we'll laugh and have tea.

Or someone from the discussion of the B&N lists the other day:

Deadset
italy12 (P.S., why are you 2 not my friends on here yet?)

or one of my buddies

ShellOilJunior
Juiceboxjerry
jcs913
McCrutchy

I know it wasn't these friends:

Beta
CC
rkish
Beard Esquire (not the SpielbergBay one anyways)
I don't think P@t_Mtl would do it.

All my other buddies wasn't online today or too nice to do it (kndy, etc).

I'm about to show you all my detective skills. Detective CG starts now!

This may be a job for Columbo or Matlock. I've always liked Peter Falk more than Andy Griffith myself. Plus Columbo was in Wings of Desire and that is of course a CC blu.

I got one better. Peter Falk was Cassavetes friend and an actor in some of his films, Cassavetes films are in Criterion Collection. Detective work done.

P.S., Peter Falk F'N RULES!

I would suggest Seven Samurai. Yojimbo/Sanjuro are both good but can be a little hard to follow at times. Seven Samurai is a really good introduction to Kurosawa (it's always struck me as a bit more accessible) and is also just a plain good movie.

It's a solid drama, funny at times and the action is extremely well done.

To me it's a lot like Casablanca - it's a movie everybody should see but it's also very enjoyable.

I am trying to decide between Days of Heaven, The Thin Red Line, and The Magician. What do you think I should go with? All three would be "blind buys."

The only Terrence Malick film I have seen is Badlands, which I liked a lot. I own Bergman's The Seventh Seal, and I love that too.
