it is absolutely worth a blind buy, if you want to watch something crazy and different with some style.

Hopefully it is going to be a stacked blu-ray release. Letter Never Sent was bare-bones.

Do Criterion's usually go OOP? I want the Ichi and Lone Wolf collections, but money is kind of tight. But I'll jump on them quick if I have to.

They go OOP only if they lose distribution rights to the films. That's dependent on the deal they have with the individual studio.

They're pretty good about keeping what they have. For the most part. Glad I got The Third Man when I could. I'm still confused as to how they lost Ran. They got it back but I'm still confused how to they let THAT one go before.

Criterion lost the home video rights to Ran and many other Studio Canal own titles when SC entered into a bulk deal with Lionsgate to distribute all their titles in America. AFAIK there is no confirmation that Criterion has "got back" the rights to Ran, unless you want to say that the image of a pic from Ran on their feed means they have it in the bag.

Kino Insider has pretty much confirmed Criterion has got back some SC titles (you can also guess which ones from Kino’s list of upcoming titles that are OOP Criterions).

Unfortunately I don't think Ballad of a Soldier have had a restoration done yet.

That's both the most detailed wacky drawing, and also one of the more disturbing ones

I really hope George Clooney is a Criterion fan and also subscribes to their newsletter and just got that e-mail.

I want Clooney to know this picture exists.

I have a hard time making George Clooney out of that, to be honest.

So I have been looking at the synopsis for Japon and for the life of me I can't figure out or understand how this has anything to do with Japan. It is something like Brazil for TG's film?
