Just finished The Darjeeling Limited last night and I like it a lot! More than I thought I would.

I liked 400 Blows. I wasn't sure if I would before seeing it and reading through summaries, but now reading them they seem a little off based. For me it was interesting and humorous; didn't really feel anything for the characters.

The acting is good, the cinematography is good, the blu looks great. With that said, I'm not sure how much replay value it has.

Pierrot can be had for $21 on Amazon market and one would get it faster than BN could ever ship it.

A thought: Wouldn't it be lovely if there was a site that told us what Criterion titles were out of print?

If you enjoyed "The 400 Blows", you'll definitely want to watch the sequels featuring the character of Antoine Doinel (box set is on sale during this Criterion sale at B&N).

I liked it from a filmmaking perspective. The character Antoine I didn't care about, so I'm not sure how sequels would play.

Chungking Express
Last Year At Marienbad
House
Yojimbo/Sanjuro box

Any suggestions?

I want to order a replacement case for my Paper/Digibook Bottle Rocket. I'm assuming the replacement case is the clear white case they release them in now, correct? Do they send you the artwork insert along with the case?
My recommendation is Chungking Express, Days of Heaven, Breathless or The 400 Blows and Yojimbo/Sanjuro. If you have a public library or an AAA card use the B&N third party link and you can get these for 10% off for $17.99 while Yojimbo/Sanjuro will cost $31.49.

This will cost around $83.46 not inc. tax. But since you pretty much have $8-10 to spend.... My recommendation is to use it for Alain Resnais "Night and Fog" with a 10% discount it will be $6.74 or Red Balloon/White Mane for $8.99.

Then you're going to enjoy the sequels as Truffaut was very selective with his cinematographers. You have Raoul Coutard working on "Antoine et Collete" and if you enjoyed the Godard films or Truffaut's "Jules et Jim", I'm sure you will enjoy Coutard's work. For "Love on the Run" and "Bed and Board", he goes to one of his favorite cinematographers, Néstor Almendros, who did a fantastic job in films such as "Days of Heaven", "Kramer vs. Kramer" "Sophie's Choice" and "The Last Metro".

The sequels are lighter, almost comedies and explore Antoine's character much more. He's a romantic and goes through like a dozen jobs. It's really cool to see him age and his life change.

Since The 400 Blows was kind of like the director's life protrayed on screen, are the others the same, where they portray the director at different periods throughout his childhood?

I've ordered a few times from the library link and you don't need a public library card. I think that's what you've implied the last couple of times. Just log in to b&n using their library link and check out. Make sure you've logged out of the regular b&n site beforehand, just in case.

After 400 Blows, they progress through his teens and well into adulthood.

(And they have some of my favorite actresses in them as well. Wish there was more Claude Jade out their on disc, curious to see what else she did besides these films (or perhaps it's best that maybe there aren't.))

Watched Seven Samurai last night for the first time. The bloody film blew me away. I usually find longer movies tedious, but the 3 1/2 hour length passed by relatively smoothly, a few restroom breaks aside. Much funnier than I was expecting, with great characters throughout.

I obviously cannot speak for movies I haven't seen yet, but ~$100 could be reached by grabbing Yojimbo/Sanjuro, House, Last Year At Marienbad, and Breathless. ...Marienbad is probably my favorite Criterion blu to date, so I'm a little bit biased there.

Since I am not that familiar with the set, and I know I could look them up (ccfixx will let me know about that), you seem like you know a bit about them. So I'll ask you

How many films come in the set, and is it the same actor every time? Cause that's...ya know...pretty cool.

Here ya go! The Adventures of Antoine Doinel

And yes, Jean-Pierre Léaud is in all FOUR films plus the ONE short. You get to watch him grow up.

"Show the rest person who has it!"

I don't know what in the world you're talking about, CassavetesGreg. I'm sure that photo comes directly from Criterion. They seem to be posting a lot of those similarly-styled photos on their Facebook account these days.

EDIT: Nevermind, after re-reading your poorly structured sentence about 10 times now, I finally understand what you're trying to convey.
I would've probably gone for something more like this... "Hey, person who has this set... how about showing us the rest of its contents?"

I should of put a comma on a internet forum post, like this:

Show the rest, person who has it!

But anyways, yeah it looks like one of Criterion's "look at me. I took a pic of a new release behind a back drop that KIND OF has something to do with the film! How artsy of us!".

Stop taking pics and ship it to us already!
