Same email here re: Night on Earth. But Stranger Than Paradise says they still need time to get a delivery date.

The Last Picture Show was the reason I bought the set. I consider it the best film of the bunch.

OT question for you guys, as I know we have members that have gone to film school, and have read this. I’m ordering Sidney Lumet’s Making Movies as the next work I tackle upon completion of Pauline Kael’s I Lost it at the Movies. My question concerns the format I buy, as I can’t find a definitive answer in reviews. Are there any pictures or diagrams in the book that would really necessitate my buying a hard copy? Or, am I ok buying the Kindle version for my Paperwhite? The Kindle usually does a pretty good job with imagery, but I know that certain image-heavy books like Hitchcock/Truffaut, I will eventually add a hard copy to better go back and look at the film scenes being examined.

Thanks!!

I bought the set for Five Easy Pieces, but Picture Show was very good too, although it didn't quite resonate with me like Pieces. I guess it's because I'd seen Five Easy Pieces a few times growing up, so I'm more nostalgic for it.

Well, I don't know if this will help you feel better or not but the book included was an edited version. It's missing the last chapter that explains what happened to the girls.

My hard copy of Making Movies doesn't have any pictures or diagrams in it. You're going to want to pick up a camera after reading Lumet's book, great read.

My understanding is that the book was originally published that way - with the "final" chapter being published separately, many years later.

Default The Criterion Channel

Has anyone downloaded the Criterion Channel app yet? If so has anyone been able to watch anything after signing in? I signed up to be a charter member back in February, but to watch anything the app wants me to choose a plan at full price. I sent an email to their support, but was wondering if anyone else was having the same issue. Trying on my iPad and appleTV

Same exact issue I'm having. I also emailed their support. Good to know I'm not alone.

yeah, same here. I wouldn't be surprised though if by noon or 1pm EST, the app is working better.

I'm staying away from that chapter. I think the film and book are perfect as they are without it.

iPhone app is live and working for me. I’m able to play various content and search. Also, I noticed the app has a feature to download films to your device. I don’t think this was advertised, right?

Hmm... had they advertised it, I might've signed up. Have you seen any indication of a maximum number of downloads you can hold at a time?

Is there any new information about the film touring? Or is it mere speculation?

I see now that the Film Forum will be screening it in July:
