That's more of a wish list than a prediction but you can look a few pages back to see all the directors who have had 2 films announced in the same month from Criterion. Those 2 films have been eagerly anticipated for a long time from Criterion fans so I don't think too many people would be upset by it.....

DO THE RIGHT THING really would be just the ticket for a hot summer's day in July...and KLUTE would be ideal for a warm summer's evening.

A Godzilla box-set would be just the ticket and ideal, period.

Absolutely. I love both, though I prefer the remake. I haven't heard anything about a restoration of "A Story.." but I'll even take one of their modest Digital HD transfers over nothing. The Floating Weeds films are perfect for Summer so I really do hope they release it in July or August.

I believe G.W. Pabst's KAMERADSCHAFT and WESTFRONT 1918 were released concurrently in January of last year. Two films from the same director in the same month is rare, but not unheard of.

In addition to the Jarmusch upgrades, the Costas pair, Dumont, Pabst . .

I remember a month with two Malle films (ZAZIE and BLACK MOON), Welles (CHIMES and IMMORTAL), Davis (JUBAL and 3:10), Mungui (GRADUATION and BEYOND THE HILLS), Morris (GATES OF HEAVEN/VERNON and THIN BLUE), Ray (BIG CITY and CHARLATA), Carne (CHILDREN upgrade and VISITEURS), Chabrol (COUSINS and BEAU SERGE).

It's really not an unheard of practice.

I have never seen Funny Games, from what I have read and heard about it, it reminds me of Henry:Portrait of a Serial Killer which I could not handle and had to turn off (I couldn't even make it through the first home invasion scene). I love twisted movies but I prefer my gore with humor (Dead Alive, Evil Dead 1&2). When it feels too real I can't handle it. I mean Henry felt more real (with the vid cam footage) than Faces of Death....

Funny Games definitely ran me up a tree the first time I saw it. Most of Haneke's films do, but that one is particularly unnerving.
