I obviously cannot speak for movies I haven't seen yet, but ~$100 could be reached by grabbing Yojimbo/Sanjuro, House, Last Year At Marienbad, and Breathless. ...Marienbad is probably my favorite Criterion blu to date, so I'm a little bit biased there.
I'm getting those plus Chungking. Perhaps The 400 Blows instead of House.

Has anybody seen Alain Resnais' Wild Grass yet? It shows up at redbox as a surprise and I am thinking of getting it today.

Nope. Just the awesome cardboard. I love the digipaks. I don't think they would make replacement cases for something that came out like a week or 2 ago. Replacement cases wasn't for these digipaks anyways. Just those first wave of thin releases.

The new digipacks are pretty cool, except that my "awesome" cardboard outer box is already ripping on one of the corner seams from taking the inside books out only 2 times. Looks cool, but just not sturdy, especially years from now. Kind of a shame.

Go the custom route. Buy your own replacement cases and design your own. It will be unique to you. When you show it off you can show it with pride because nobody will have your case.

How long has Barnes & Noble been doing these sales? I know they did one a few months back. Had they done any before then?

Also, the "fav" clear cases get markings on them and is boring to the max. People want all of their movies to be the same height, like something will happen if each movie has a life of it's own. The clear cases drain the artwork to me. So they both have downfalls. I just think when both get older, the plastic cases will just be dirty, while the cardboard could have tears, but it's like having vinyl records. I just rather have old cardboard than dirty, scratched plastic.

See, I'd rather have something that doesn't so easily get bent, torn, or damaged. At least with plastic, it's the easily replaceable outer case that gets scratched, not the actual artwork underneath. I could care less about uniformity, I love the look of the digibooks, but they just aren't sturdy enough for my taste. I've been collecting since the laserdisc days, and even then, the paper sleeves (just like records) got way too much damage, shelf wear, etc.. same with DVDs. Paper just never has been a suitable replacement for plastic, as far as durability is concerned.

To each his own I guess. I just have more problems with plastic cases getting scratched (weird back markings that was already there before I got them) than cardboard being torn, unless it was shipped that way, which is one big thing against the cardboard, shipping it.

I get where you are coming from but i love the plastic cases. I think Criterion is bad ass for not changing the case type like every other blu. In addition i love the booklets they add. Thats enough for me.

Yeah but like I said, a plastic case is easily replaceable. A damaged paper case is not- when it's ruined, it's ruined. After u collect for a few years, you'll see how paper just doesn't hold up well.

I enjoyed "Wild Grass"....but of course, before anyone watches this film, at least understand how Alain Resnais films are because if you come into it expecting a romantic film or a film done the traditional way, you may be disappointed.

Besides Toy Story 3 (hey...I'm a big animation guy...besides...I have young kids ), the only other non CCs that I'm getting this year (for sure) are Sherlock Jr., Metropolis, and Fantasia.

Fantasia is looking to be another GREAT BD...I'm psyched!
I'm glad you picked up "The Sound of Music". It's a perfect release and just saw the Blu-ray.com review and they also gave it a 5.0 as well. It's highly recommended!

LOL!! I actually did bribe my kids with candy bars at one point my first year teaching. After a while, I didn't need to anymore.

Now I'm a school counselor...not as much stress, but just as rewarding!

Really? I have over 300 Blu-Rays on my shelf including well over 50 Criterion films. I have to move them around at least a couple times a week to re-organize and make room for more and I've never has a scratching problem with my cases.

Got my first shipment from the B&N sale - House. Still have 9 others ordered.
