Abbas Kiarostami (which we know is coming) and Glauber Rocha.

I'd prefer directors with smaller filmographies than Bergman and Kurosawa for purely practical and money-related reasons.

Unless I'm missing something, the Bergman set doesn't have its own spine number. Probably because individual films within have them. I assume, then, that a Kurosawa set would also not have a spine number and seems unlikely to be spine number 1000. Maybe Criterion will be inconsistent, but it'd be out of character for them to be that. All that being said, I would buy the hell out of a complete Kurosawa no matter the price or spine number.

That would prob just be a spine number boxset, but YES please! I have the Brazilian dvds, but would love the upgrade, and to get his films he did in Spain, Italy, and France.

John Woo, Kurosawa, Masaki Kobayashi, Aki Kaurismaki, Fassbinder.

That makes sense. That's why the Jean Vigo collection is so amazing

There is a very good boxset of Kaürismaki in the UK, don't remember if it's region-locked

The Kaürismaki set is region B only and it is terrific. In addition to his complete feature filmography, it has most if not all of his shorts as well.

Generally there pretty good with silents as long as you are looking at the schedule in advance, though yes I know not everyone can do that. I do wish that many foreign films would be shown at a better timeslots than 2 AM and usually 4 AM EST to get much better exposure to the current generation of classic film fans.
I pretty religiously record from their Silent Sunday if they feature something I’ve not seen. I have a number of silent movies saved to watch from their weekly Sunday feature: Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ (1925), Pandora’s Box (1929), The Scarlet Letter (1926), The Student Prince in Old Heidelberg (1927), and The Kid Brother (1927), though I think the Harold Lloyd film aired at a different time.

I’d pull out the credit card for a Peter Bogdanovich set.

Kieslowski. Even though his most major films are available (Dekalog, Veronique & Three Colors, and Blind Chance) which makes it not really an option, we are still missing The Scar, No End, Camera Buff, a slew of his documentaries, and the trilogy he wrote after Three Colors but died before he could direct: Heaven, Hell, & Purgatory.

Not to mention, the correct framing on Blue, which would need a new master (or a re-framing of the current master, if the entire negative scan is still available.

Probably just you. The Olympics set is an outstanding achievement, that is of interest on social and cultural levels as well as for the sport. It features entries from highly respected and important filmmakers, and is absolutely worthy of a Criterion release.

Ya if I had the money I'd buy this. It's too bad Netflix didn't get this for their rental service.

Preferably collections that don't involve too much multi-dipping, that's the reason I brushed aside the Bergman set, I already have very good blu-ray editions of most of the films I want (also hard to sell or even gift Region A locked discs in India). I'm just waiting to get the Faith trilogy and Hour of the Wolf at sale prices.

Yasujiro Ozu (Seasons?) collection would be nice (especially since I currently own only two of them ). Kihachi Okamoto collection would be fun.

Sadly Criterion got Cat People, otherwise it would have been great to see Shout Factory do a Val Lewton Horror Collection on blu (they seem to be doing all the other Lewtons).

But I'm quite happy picking up single releases as they come along, especially if it means each release is given individual care and not shoved out just to meet a collection deadline.

I feel the opposite - it would've been nice if Criterion got the rights to release the Val Lewton boxset on blu-ray instead of Shout getting most of them.

Would the Killer and HardBoiled ever come back? I've been thinking of trying to find the OOP DVDs but I've got them on LaserDisc though if they were on BD I would immediately get them.

The Killer is with Fortune Star and we know that Criterion has a deal with them. If Fortune Star decide to restore The Killer, then there could be a good chance that Criterion gets the rights to it. Hardboiled is a different matter though since the rights to it are with a different company, and I've heard that the OCN is in really bad shape.
