Believe it or not...I think that I actually prefer the version of Bottle Rocket in the original digipack, over the "replacement" case. The art is much more vivid and the insert booklet has a nice big pocket to sit in. It's a sturdier case than The Man Who Fell To Earth...which I have opted to not replace the case as well.

What the hell...this is the way it was released...viva la difference!

Thanks, I believe I know Resnais films. I was curious as to who has seen it yet.

I still have my Last Year at Marienbad in it's original case. I even bought a replacement case for it a while ago, but I still love the cardboard case. The 3D font and extra artwork is better than having a plastic case just to have them all the same size (I know everyone doesn't get the replacements to have them the same size, but MOST do and has posted that they do).

Got my first shipment from the B&N sale - House. Still have 9 others ordered.
I need to say, it's not really a scratch, not like a rip through it. More like markings. If you hold your case up to a light in a way where you can see where other cases rubbing up against them. Hard to read through it, on the back that is.

It only happens with my Criterion plastic cases. Not other dvds or blu-rays. Not even the thick cases like Contempt or Elevator to the Gallows. Just the clear cases ever since they started the wacky C. Not all of my clear cases are like this though.

I have seen people complain about the back cases of the blu-rays to have a big ring on the plastic where the disc is, and I actually see it on some as well. It's on there way before I receive it. It's crap to look at the front or back and try to read something, but see markings on the plastic. Again, most of this is already on the cases, before I even open them.

Don't even get me going on ECO cases. I just buy replacement cases in bulk so I can rid myself of those abominations. At least Criterion doesn't do that crap to us.

I am talking about Criterion's blu cases. The back of them gets rings on the back and I have seen others on the internet say the same.

P.S., I actually like ECO cases. What I like more is the paper dvd cases, like if anyone owned There Will Be Blood on dvd (either 1 disc or 2 disc), those cases I love. Though they need to fix the problem with dvds scratching in them.

I have a question unrelated to the case in which the film is housed. For those who own or have seen Seven Samurai on the DVD Criterion version is the upgrade to blu ray overwhelmingly astounding? I am quite torn to as they say double dip. Just would like to hear some thoughts on the subject, I have read numerous posts that fellow forum aficionados have picked this title up but do not recall any posts comparing this to the Criterion DVD. Many thanks

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for the environment. So long as it doesn't effect my movie collection.

Hey, anyone that's interested, on the BBS link at Criterion's website, they have a preview like thing that some might like to watch:

Hey CG...just finished watching Underworld. Very good! And you were right...as much as I like The Docks of New York, I think I like Underworld just a little bit more.

One question...I know the film is in it's OAR of 1.33 to 1...but why is the DVD menu in the same aspect ratio? Does Criterion do this with all of their DVD films that are 1.33 to 1?

Looks like this is a purchase...thanks for all your feedback!

Hmmm, not sure about that. I really don't pay attention to all of the menu's ratios. I'll have to put some in and check them out.

If you buy it, hope ya like the last one, Last Command.

Yes! I hope it's either "The Mirror" or "Stalker", although anything Tarkovsky is worth watching.

Kino probably still has the rights to both.

Lets hope its the Andrei Rublev re-do, because I'm not really a fan of Solaris or Ivan's Childhood.

THANKS A LOT CG! I was going to wait on this set, but I might bite earlier than later.

The wife is going to kill me...most expensive month in quite a while!

Dec is a good break. I can't wait to get my hands on the BBS set and Night of the Hunter (even though I have already seen it in HD). I hope to get the Kino Keaton as well. Still thinking about holding out on Chaplin until Dec.
