I would jump all over Liberty Valance if it got an extras loaded version as the Paramount one was barebones. I buy Searchers if it got a release but I really would prefer them to release the 40s titles like How Green Was My Valley, Grapes of Wrath, and then Liberty Valance. |

I wasn't happy about the that Liberty Valance got in the features department, but I'm just porting the 2nd disc of my DVD into a double case. |

More Almodóvar is always welcome, but I'd prefer his earlier works (several of them already released in the UK as The Almodóvar Collection). Not that I'm saying they're better movies but I just want his earlier, lesser-known, more-kinky ones to be restored and released.

The Long Voyage Home is part of the Caidin Film Trust, distributed by Westchester Films, now owned by Shout! Factory. That package includes Stagecoach, To Be or Not to Be, Foreign Correspondent, I Married a Witch, and You Only Live Once (which was licensed directly from Shout! to ClassicFlix).
Westchester also has US rights to Welles' Othello, Breaker Morant, A Room with a View, Mister Johnson, Hopscotch, Quadrophenia, and Insomnia. The majority of the RKO library is owned by Warner Bros. via Turner. Some of the public domain films have been licensed from Lobster Films to Kino lately, while some others were only distributed by RKO. For example, Janus Films owns The Devil and Daniel Webster, while Syncopation ended up with Cohen because it was part of the Raymond Rohauer/Douris UK library. Also, Notorious ended up back with Selznick. And I think some of the late 50s RKO productions ended up with Warner Bros. for distribution and some with Universal because they were part of Howard Hughes' estate. |

Watching Detour for the first time, and really digging it. This was recorded Thursday morning from TCM, and the technical presentation is seriously lacking. This must be an old print I’m watching. Going by Pro-B’s enthusiastic review of the newly released Criterion blu, I’m going to have to grab it during the Barnes and Noble sale. I can only imagine how gorgeous this will look restored. You know....(saxophone playing seductively in the next room), I’m in a film-noir mood this morning, hoping for a foggy night so I can put on my trench coat, hop into the car, drive over to the local diner, and flirt with the leggy femme fatale-looking waitress, Cora. She has smoky eyes, an ankle bracelet and a mysterious disposition. Last time I was there, I had a roast beef sandwich and a cup of Joe. But, Cora seemed distracted. Somebody was trying to sell her much older husband, the diner owner, a life insurance policy.... |

I'm loving The Criterion Channel but I wish they would implement a user rating and review system so we can keep track of what we've seen and also see what other people have thought of a particular film.
