I really hope they do that...considering the BBS set is falling outside of the B & N sale. I'd like to see it drop below 79.99...ahhhh...time will tell.

B & N store update:

Made it to the store after work...wound up picking up "3 Silent Classics" and Seven Samurai.

B & N had (2) more coups for members that came out today...both run through Sunday...one is for 10% and the other for 15%. I wound using the 15% on the 3 Silents and a $5 coup on Seven Samurai.

One thing is for sure...no stacking of coupons. I tried to use a $5 coup on the 3 Silents and no dice. Would have used the 10% coupon on the Kurosawa, but the $5 was a better deal...at least they don't seem to be disallowing use of the coupons more than once per member, as that is how the wording seems to be on that coup.

Hey...I can't complain...I got the 3 Silents for $33.09 (w/tax) and Seven Samurai for $18.92 (w/tax).

FYI...there's also a 10% coup that expires on 11/21.

I thought long and hard about Seven Samurai, but from all I've read, it's an "important" film like Breathless, Metropolis, etc. Besides, it's a nice looking package.

I'm really impressed with the packaging for 3 Silents...haven't cracked it open quite yet, but can't wait to check out that booklet.

I'm proud of myself...first non-BD CC purchase in almost 2 years...been trying to be patient, as some things make it to BD, but I'm sure this won't ever, or for quite a while at least.

Gotta ask this...

Am I the only one...or does anyone else proof read their posts, before hitting "submit"?

Wow...5 posts in a row...if you move the scroll bar up and down fast, I look like a Simpsons cartoon.

Just watched Charade, a great caper that is still as good today as was in 1963. Great transfer too!

Of course, I would be the one to scroll up and down to see it.

I did not get a chance to go to B&N after work as I was too tired. However, I did go to Target before work to score a digibook copy of another favorite classic of ours (me and my wife), The Sound of Music.

I will probably try and get to B&N Saturday morning before work again.

I think you should. My B&N had a bunch of CC titles. I was very pleased. I thought they would have two at most.

I did the very same thing my friend...that digibook looks really nice. I haven't had a chance to crack it open yet...how does it look inside?

I saw this the year it was released at Radio City Music Hall in NYC. I was in first or second grade of Catholic school and I remember taking the bus to get into NYC (I lived in Rockland Co. at that time...about an hour north). I guess the school figured this was like going to mass on a First Friday (gotta be a Catholic to understand ).

Besides...the review was stellar and kndy was pushing it as well...

Sometimes I catch myself posting it first then re-reading it. But I always read my posts, it's just sometimes I do it after I post it.

OH, and Big News for CG fans, I will be moving Saturday, so I prob won't have internet until Monday. I will most likely be on tomorrow though (Friday).

Well...I'm off tomorrow for a parent/teacher meeting, so I should be on and off the computer all day.

Guess we'll just have to pimp you out, until you are unavailable.

Is this a move out to your own place, or is this a family move?

A QUICK FAM move (just me, my mom, and CCfixx. Well, more like moving in with CC) since I don't have a job anymore (hence why I am only buying things now that I love and holding off on things like Modern Times and still living off the money I kept back from working.). I also need to get my *** in school, but still don't have a clue what I want to go for. It's hard for a film loving snob to find a film school around here, so I would prob have to save up money and leave my way of life to go somewhere, or stay here and do something I don't want to do.

Alright its Q&A time. Regarding replacement cases I need to send an email to store@criterion.com and a paypal payment, that is the only way, correct? (Because I don't have a paypal account so if this is the only way to pay looks like its time to make one) Also will they send empty cases if I pay the normal case price, the plastic on my Days of Heaven tore.

Well...I hope you ejoy your new home in Rhode island!

You won't be too far from me...the three of us could form a small film group, though I would expect CC to spend a lot of time with Mom.

Hey...this may sound very corny and pollyanna, but I really believe that eventually, good things happen to good people. Underneath that punk/French New Wave/anti-Spielbergian exterior, beats the heart of a warm, decent, human being who is just trying to get his bearings.

Trust me...life has been no bowl of cherries for me and I've been thrown the gaunlet of challenge on and off for most of my adult life. I'm very grateful for all I have, but it hasn't always been easy.

You seem like a good guy...just stay the course and find a way to have your cake and eat it too. I was a Communications major in college and today I'm a network administrator for a school district...and even that was fraught with bad decisions on former jobs.

Take your time and just try to "make ends meet"...find a job that you can at least tolerate (and maybe even enjoy) and persevere until you either grow to like it or can move on to something better. You could even do a day gig and go to school in the evening...or vice versa.

I'm trying to not sound like a father...more like a friend that wants to steer you in a good direction. We can all attempt to help out, but it's ultimately up to you to forge ahead and make a move in a positive direction.

To quote Monsters Inc..."We scare...because we care!"

Take care and good luck with the move!

Actually, I'm heading back down south to meet up with CG and his mother. I'm gonna go backt to my roots since I'm from Georgia. We rednecks have to stick together. Heck, even I'm trying to get out of RI eventually. I wouldn't bring that kind of pain down on my lil' CG.
