That's not a commonly held opinion anywhere.

Any advice on shipping to Australia for the B&N Sale? I wanted to get the Bergman boxset and some other titles but the B&N website's charging a 10% tax and says it can't ship some/all of the titles to Oz (I've been testing the system to see if it actually works - sometimes it approves all the titles, sometimes it doesn't).

I have a contact in the US who's offered to help me out but just thought I'd ask here in case anyone knows of cheaper/easier ways

I know its a joke but why it got annoying was they seem to use it more than then they should. It just got old pretty fast. I actually chuckle the first couple of times.

Great movie. I remember watching it for the first time ages and ages ago, and I was just blown away. Oh, and I think I also fell in love with Ally Sheedy. Or Molly Ringwald. Or both.

Hey, I was young!

I will say that Wes Anderson is one of the more polarizing directors out there. People either seem to love his films, or hate them. I personally enjoy all of them, and find them to be pretty funny, and creatively put together.

I'd suggest you watch a couple more of his films, and see whether you like his style or not. I wouldn't really say Bottle Rocket is that typical of his other films. I'd suggest The Grand Budapest Hotel, The Royal Tenenbaums, and Rushmore.
Those are my top three favorites, in order. And you're right - Anderson is very polarizing. I think for anyone who doesn't like one of the films, it's pretty unlikely they'll like any of the rest. There are always exceptions, but for anyone who's not naturally feeling it, I wouldn't try too hard. Plenty more films out there.

Yeah, I don't like Anderson at all. I just don't get what he's going after. Maybe it's my own fault. I don't know. But I've never been able to get into his films.

I know its the whole joke but it just wears thin in my opinion.

Also why does Isle of Dogs seem better animated? as FMF seems more stilted to me at least

Wes Anderson is one of my favorite filmmakers - The Royal Tenenbaums, Fantastic Mr. Fox, and The Grand Budapest Hotel are among my all-time favorites. With The Life Aquatic and The Darjeeling Limited up there, too. Not as big of a fan of Rushmore and Moonrise Kingdom, but even his lesser films are worth it for the outstanding casts, visuals, and music.

A re-watch is certainly in the future. I may not have connected with his films on the first go around, but I'm willing to give some a second chance. I know, for example, that many people think that The Royal Tenebaums is fantastic.

So a good second watch.

I enjoyed The Grand Budapest Hotel and Rushmore. I didn't like The Royal Tenenbaums at all. It's been a long time since I've seen it though. Those are the only Anderson films I've seen. I've always been curious about Life Aquatic. He's definitely not one of my favorite filmmakers though per say.

I absolutely love Wes Anderson. He's one of my all time favorite directors. I haven't thought about ranking his films as of yet, but Moonrise Kingdom is a favorite of mine. He's got a film coming out next year called The French Dispatch, which sounds like it will be interesting...

I just finished watching Dheepan. I don't really understand the negative criticism for this film. I felt a connection to the characters, the story is interesting, and it is well paced. I guess if I'm missing something that's alright because I was engaged with the film throughout, and I can see myself rewatching it.

I haven't seen yet, but I've heard really gird things about it. I guess I need to dive in.

Absolutely a stone cold remarkable movie. It's a great example of Audiard's ability to bend and bind genres. One theory I have about how criminally underrated it is: everyone expected an immigrant-fish-out-of-water story, which it kind of was, but it's actually a calculated revenge movie with a deceptively poignant visual style. He said he based it kind of on Straw Dogs. The Cannes jury said there really wasn't much debate about giving it Palm d'or.

I know that it did receive the Palme d'Or and that it does have a high score on Rotten Tomatoes, but I have come across quite a bit of negative criticism about it. Divisive might have been a more accurate term.

Going to watch a totally non-Criteriom film tongight in Catptaim Marvel, which I thought was magnificent. Then probably follow it up with likely spine #1000 and Citizen Kane. Interesting duo.

Citizen Kane will not be adopted by Criterion, nor should it be.

I love Anderson. I only haven’t seen Life Aquatic, but I’m gonna pick it up and complete my collection of his films when the flash sale starts.
