I have the opposite feeling. I remember loving Betty Blue when I first saw it, but I wonder now how it will stand up after thirty years.

My Sale list:

Frances Ha
Philadelphia Story
His Girl Friday
Life Aquatic
La Dolce Vita
The Heiress
High and Low
3 women
Odd man out
Tampopo

I’m getting 6 of these to start. Not sure which ones yet lol

I’ll be getting more later, most likely when Klute comes out and I pick that up.

one have not put on my wishlist is Beauty and the Best. I can't seem to make up my mind on that. Given my collection of Criterions would I enjoy this?
It’s a great film. The restoration is older, much like Stagecoach it would benefit quite a lot from the tools they use now to stabilize the image of older pictures. It’s hard to say whether you would like it or not. You look heavy on the Japanese titles and you don’t seem to have a large collection of older European films. However thematically I would say there is some overlap. Probably not any help but just my take.

My cart currently has:

The Leopard
Breathless
8 1/2
The Heiress &
Swing Time

Absolutely loved La Dolce Vita last night. I’m tempted to throw Satyricon, Roma, and Amarcord in as well.

Of all the Fellini you just listed, Amarcord is far and away the most enjoyable, IMO. It came later in his career, but its almost an homage to his earlier more sentimental movies. Like he made his own "greatest hits" movie. 8 1/2 is probably the closest, style-wise, to La Dolce Vita though.

I'm a fan of La Dolce Vita and 8 1/2, but couldn't get into either Amarcord or Roma. So YMMV when it comes to liking his 70s films alongside his earlier work.

The clue made me think Cry Baby but that doesn’t really fit... just my gut reaction.

The answer is Betty Blue. It's Betty, she's crying, aka feeling blue.

I've decided on my list and order for the sale starting tomorrow:

Blue Velvet
The Tree of Life
Virgin Suicides
Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me

possibly the Ingmar Bergman collection if I can turn a few tricks.

That probably shouldn't have made me laugh out loud, but it did.

What do you guys recommend in the horror/thriller department? I was thinking about Don’t Look Now but a 4K boxset is coming out.

But any suggestions would be appreciated.

Top five would be (in no particular order):
Eyes without a Face
Blood Simple
Kwaidan
House
Sisters

runners up (in no order)
Carnival of Souls
Kuroneko
Vampyr
Dressed to Kill
Blow Out
The Brood
Repulsion
Videodrome
Cronos
The Devil's Backbone
The Island of Lost Souls
Rosemary's Baby
Godzilla (might be in their upcoming Godzilla set, so I'd wiat)

DVD only releases (if you don't mind buying DVDs)
Häxan
Eclipse Series 37: When Horror Came to Shochiku

Sisters and The Brood are a lot of fun - they make a great double feature too.

Get 3 Women, Odd Man Out, La Dolce Vita, and Frances Ha for sure. If you can't decide about the other two pics, definitely get the Grant films.

I really, really want to watch High and Low again but I can’t help the feeling that a Kurosawa boxset could happen!

High and Low is essential. Buy first. Worry about Kurosawa boxsets later.
