Mildred Pierce and Only Angels Have Wings have great covers, which caught my eye. I think these will be bling buys. I'm usually a film fan from the '80s to present, so this will be a new venture for my collection.

A further tip- go to the B&N product page and copy down the UPC codes for what you want first and give the clerk those numbers instead of the titles. Makes it much quicker and easier all around.

If you don't want to do ship to home, I have called my B&N store to order titles for the sale. They keep them behind the register for me and I pick it up as well. It's a nice way to review the product before I buy it. If the store doesn't have it, they get it from their warehouse in a few days.

Don't think the Classic Hitchcock set is offered at B&N, as noted up-thread, though the 4 individual films are available @ $20 each. The Amazon price seems to fluctuate between US$65 and US$95. (Today it's at US$67.)

If I were to start my Criterion library from scratch, this set would be essential, if not the first acquisition.

Good for you! You may find a whole new era of film to love. You certainly picked a couple of fantastic films to branch out with. I hope you enjoy them both, but above all else, I commend you for taking a chance on new experiences.

Would anyone here recommend the BRD trilogy as a blind buy. I watched a 10 min clip of Lola on YouTube and it seemed like good dialogue. The only thing I know about Fassbender is World on a wire which I liked a lot, I'm hoping someone can talk me into it or maybe talk me out of it.

BRD Trilogy were the first Fassbinder films I saw and it started my appreciation! I really like them!

All three are great films. You will not be sad esp since you enjoyed World on A Wire.

Great pick up! I've been debating picking up On The Waterfront because it would be a blind buy for me, but I've been interested in seeing it for a while. I guess it will depend on what's in stock at the store when I head there this weekend.
