I wouldn't be disappointed in the slightest if Paper Moon was announced.

I never saw it at $38. It was at $44, without the 20% deal that some other titles had.

The anticipation of spine #1000 had me thinking of what other relevant spine numbers we have coming up. I know there is already a UHD of it and Lionsgate rarely, if ever, license out, but it would be perfect if Criterion would release Halloween for spine #1031.

It's still more than a bit of a long shot but given the slight flutters of movement with Paramount catalog titles The Tenant would make a pretty good October title too.

While I still enjoy the Eureka disc, I'd be day one for a remastered edition of "Paper Moon".

That must be what's causing the delay. They need to update their website to include UHD titles.

It was really s***y of Criterion to totally drop the ball on a milestone announcement like this without as much of a tweet (how hard would that be?). It’s a perfect/terrible metaphor for physical media however.

But hands down the worst part is enduring another full day of guesses. Criterion doing us dirty.

Maybe I'll update this thread in the future to include those Criterion films that have a Blu-ray release from another company.

I.E. The Harder They Come from Shout, Alphaville from Kino, etc.

Yeah, Kino has a lot of titles this year that were at some point on Criterion. I was just looking at that today.

I think it's time for me to throw in the towel.

I'll keep the website open on my iPad and refresh periodically. However, I don't expect to see them until mid-morning tomorrow at the earliest.

The day we will always remember.

7/16/2019 - When Criterion announce they are focusing on their online content and will no longer offer physical discs.

Though they haven't done it lately, for the past several years Criterion has almost always postponed an announcement during months with big holidays that fell before the 15th, as though that one single day off (in this case, July 4) meant that they had to push their entire schedule back and nobody could write the new synopses for the announcements in time. Which seems ridiculous. I have no proof of this other than noticing it over and over for the past five years or so, up until this year. Regardless of the reason, this delay is especially disappointing.

I wonder if we will get a Godzilla announcement at Comic-Con as Toho will have a Godzilla booth there and there is a new Toho Godzilla website, Twitter and Instagram accounts.

Unhappy

I feel like I've been punched in the gut. This is heartbreaking. I was just watching my blu-ray of LE CERCLE ROUGE, which of course is out-of-print and ridiculously expensive otherwise, and at about 1 hr 48 min in the disc freezes and will not play any of the rest of the movie. I've tried skipping ahead, fast-forwarding, ejecting the disc, restarting my player...everything. This sucks. The surface of the disc is clean and completely unmarked. I love this movie and this just absolutely sucks.
