They've already made AK100 (though on DVD) so I don't really think that would be it.

From my recollection, when Criterion doesn't announce on the 15th, when there's no reason for not (no weekend or holiday), they tend to announce titles earlier the next day. I think sometimes as early as 12PM

I would also add:

Night and the City
The Killing
Mildred Pierce

Also, a film that I think is more noir-ish than pure noir, The Sweet Smell of Success appears on many lists of essential noir.

I love this movie and this just absolutely sucks.
Can you try a different player?

Are you able to try and watch it on a computer with a blu ray drive? Might be able to back it up if you have access to a computer with a blu ray drive.

Man what a great surprise this would be!

Pretty sure they still replace OOP titles.

I've contacted them to see if this one is still possible. Just waiting on a response. Thanks.

The Killers, Detour, Gilda, and The Asphalt Jungle are great. In Cold Blood is another good choice if you enjoy noir. For classic horror, they have Carnival of Souls and The Blob.

Ugh. They got me again. Took advantage of the 20% prices on Amazon yesterday. Picked up:

Detour
Police Story Set
Magnificent Ambersons

These combined with the B&N sale titles I got last week:
Blow Up
Blow Out
Blue Velvet
Valerie and Her Week of Wonders
Notorious
Elevator to the Gallows

I'm set for a while (famous last words)

I like to toss around the idea #1000 will be Criterion's first 4k disc. Probably not, but you know. A guy HAS to dream ok??

I was hoping for this too when the speculation leaned toward Grand Budapest Hotel. Although in the past Criterion has always launched new formats or lines in December, so they may wait for a separate announcement so as not to dilute #1000. Hopefully we’ll find out later today.

Just gimme Come and See...I've been such a patient lad.

With Potemkine's release coming in September, I have to imagine a stateside release isn't too far off.
