Criterion only have rights to the 1954-1975 run of films (aside from 1962's King Kong vs. Godzilla, as far as we know...), though, which isn't the entire franchise. And no way do I see them release anything on UHD.

Blu-ray will do me fine. Gotta adjust expectations depending on what company and franchise we're dealing with. Most of these movies are only available on DVD, and those editions leave a lot to be desired. Blu-ray will be a big step up.

Sometimes, yeah, and some speculate any Godzilla release(s) will be announced at Toho's Comic-Con booth for that reason. An announcement is supposedly coming this week, and Toho have teased "exciting news," so not impossible.

I think this has been said before, but spine 1000 will be a documentary about how they decided to make a documentary about picking that documentary for spine 1000...and the last scene is someone opening up the case and putting the disc into a player and the whole documentary starts over...it never ends...then you can't shut it off...it takes over...your life is now 1000...

Meh. Of all the B&W films that they could release on UHD, I'd rather they go with one that had a master that hasn't aged that well or could look much better (12 Angry Men, Dr. Strangelove, The Last Picture Show, Paths of Glory etc.)

If I remember correctly, Dr. Strangelove was the first black and white film to receive a 4K restoration. That was like 13 years ago or so I believe.

I'd be happy with any title to be honest, Citizen Kane isn't even in my top 500 wants but I just want them to start releasing stuff on UHD.

To be honest, Criterion should release that on Blu-ray. It's such a great movie.
